The commitment of Williams has me excited about SMU hoops again. Here is my starting five next season.....

PG: Williams
SG: Harp/Malone/Otis
SF/PF: Faye
PF: Dia
C: Fall

I've never seen Faye play, so I'm not sure if he can match up defensively at the 3, but if he can play on a good team in the ACC as a freshman, I'm sure he can handle the 3s in C-USA. We need Dia and Fall to live in the gym this summer. My biggest concern is the lack of a proven scorer at the 2, or a proven scorer at any position.

I am too-looking forward to actually going to an SMU game for the first time in 3 years. I think however that Otis is going to have to play inside in a Willie Davis role. He could be effective too since SMU now has a big frontline otherwise. Dubois will now have a chance to develop behind Williams without being thrown to the wolves. Shooting will be SMU's weakness. But I think physically SMU will have easily the most athletic team it has had in 5 years or so. I wouldn't be surprised to see substantial improvement next year-and if Bamba and/or Faye blossom like you'd think they could as 4-5 year men, it could be an exciting team.

I too am very excited about next years team. I would think our starting line-up looks like this to begin the season:

PG- Williams
SG- Harp
F- Malone
F- Dia
C- Bamba

Nayakundi and Otis will be our forwards off the bench. Bennie, Dubois, and Walker will be the guards off the bench. Second semester once Faye is eligible things will obviously change a bit as I don't see Doherty regularly playing 11 guys.

well let's hope Harp learns to shoot again. For now, Harp=Najera.

I agree with you. He does need to get his shot together. IF he can he is already a skilled passer into the post, very good defender, heady player with a nose for the ball, and plays with a lot of hustle. Add a decent jumpshot in there and you have a very nice complimentary player to a team with solid bigs like ours.

Probably dead on. My biggest fear is how are we going to score? I guess we are going to have to expect 35 points out of Dia and Bamba, but that's a big guess. Maybe Williams can make it happen on a D1 level? I'm also excited about where this team is headed (mainly on an athletic level), but athletes don't always know how to score. And this past year was painful to watch as every basket seemed like a gift.

I think we can expect 15-20 points from Dia, 10-15 from Bamba, and 10-15 from Williams.

Otis and Malone are NOT guards. Faye doesnt have the jump shot or the handles to play the 3 position. I wont believe Faye is eligible, until I actually see him step on the court.

Doesn't Dubois project as a 2 not a 1? I know that he plays both for Westchester but from what I remember reading I thought he was more of a 2...

News to me. I haven't seen him play but everything I've read-and I've followed him pretty close- suggests Dubois is a PG.

why is that? Does he have an issue with grades? And X, do you have the real story on Dubois and Haynes? Will they be on the team next year, or in prep school. Also, anymore details on Rhodes? His situation really puzzles me. In the past I've been able to make it out to practices, but not this season. Is it a talent issue? attitude issue? what's the scoop?
