There's talk out here that UTEP is submitting a bid to host the men's and women's tournaments in 2010.

If the tournament is in El Paso, will UTEP still hire a high school band to play the Marty Robbins song?

The merging of the tournaments is something that needs to be done, if only to allow fans to see both and increase attendance dramatically.

Cuts travel costs significantly, at least for us it would.

Teams could go cheer for each other. For the teams with minimal traveling fan bases, that would be a significant boost.

El Paso airport is served by Southwest Airlines...that's already an advantage over Memphis!

Can't see the rest of CUSA digging that location.

You'd be surprised. Maybe they like the idea of visiting Juarez.
The tournaments never should have been separated in the first place.

Have you been to the tournament in Memphis? I have gone the past two years and had a blast.....well, except for the little problem of us being one and done.

The best time I ever had a conference tourney was during the WAC days in Vegas. Great basketball - obviously, great city too. El Paso definitely isn't a Vegas but I do like the idea of combining the two events.

Would not women to Memphis make more sense than men to El Paso?
