Just saw a quick blurb on Channel 11 about a lawsuit against SMU. It looked like it had to do something with the ladies basketball team.

Has anyone heard anything about this?

Not a surprise, her family was making threats about legal action even while she was still on the team.

As to why now, I think this past year would have been her senior year. Now she's out of eligibility.

The news story neglects to mention that her family (sister also played here) was circulating a petition demanding that the head coach be fired.

I am curious why she made the allegations in the first place. Her alleged reason 'to protect my teammates" sounds like BS. Perhaps she felt a need to get even with the coaches for some kind of perceived injustice about her playing time or something like that. There is more to this than we know. The school, after some kind of investigation, apparently found her allegations to be unfounded. Hope this is not a major distraction to the season.

It shouldnt be any serious distraction, it doesnt involve any of our current players. Only one was even on the team at the same time as Jen, and I dont think she would be involved in this.

I was incorrect in my previous post. She does have eligibility left. After sitting out the 06-07 season, she played last year at Odessa JC. Averaged 12 points per game, but shooting percentages were weak.

FGA-FGM % 3pt % FT % G Tot avg.
Colli, Jennifer 21 86-258 0.333 21-86 0.244 65-109 0.596 27 258 12.29

So she does still have eligibility left, but there were probably few scholarship offers from D1 programs. That might explain the timing.

Not to mention there are few coaches who want a player with a history of being a lockeroom problem.

In 2005-06, her only season at SMU, she played only a total of 100 minutes in 15 games off the bench. Her percentages were among the worst on the team. Now she claims the pulled ship cost her a pro career. Ridiculous!

One of the answers could be found at Oregon State.

Colli says she had a 'ship offered, but was subsequently pulled after the coach called Rhonda. Oregon State coach closed ranks, and said she never talked to Rhonda. Not much of an answer there. She said she said.

Could this be another "burgers and cheer" type of fiasco?

It's worse. Reading the DMN story, it's along the lines of sexual harrassment.

This is gonna be bad...
