I've seen Oct 17th as the start of college b-ball practice. Do we have anything scheduled?

From what I have heard, Coach Doh does not like Midnight Madness. I wish he did because I would def be out there.

you and probably 30-40 others. SMU should not attempt to "create" enthusiasm this way. Once the support is there, the...and only then... something to celebrate the opening of practice could be considered

Charleston is right, you can't fake the funk. Either you have support to pull it off, get fans excited, and make it a recruit must-see, or you practice. We need to practice

Sadly, I complete agree. Like too many athletic events on campus (i.e. the pep rallies we have tried have this year) they flop and it pains me to say that no one would show up on a Thursday night at midnight to watch the first basketball practice. So frustrating. Hopefully, sometime in the future when Coach Doh gets us into a position where we can compete for a NCAA tourney spot year in and year out, we can have a successful Midnight Madness event and hundreds of students/alumni/faculty/fans show up.

They should try to make a big deal out of a couple of Saturday practices scheduled around the football games trying to draw a crowd of fans either before or after the game. Promote it, meet the players type deal, photos, autographs, games, etc. Carnival type atmosphere.
