Was looking at the schedule:

Saw that Cal State Bakersfield is sandwiched inbetween conference games in February. What's that about?

We will need that creampuff to feel better about ourselves.....look at the two before and two after......at Tulsa, Memphis, CS-Bakersfield, at Houston, at Memphis.......that is a brutal stretch!

they are regularly in the final 4-8 of D2. Look for them to be fired up to beat a D1 team. Hope we stay within 20.

Lets hope it doesn't turn into another South Carolina Upstate game.

I think we all had that down for a W.

after last year, i agree....what a tough year...watching us get thumped by Southern, Alabama State....etc.

But we did beat UTEP and UCF.....teams on the bubble of post season play, so maybe we can do better this year.

Still worried about our offense, the only games we won last year was nights when Killen was draining the 3s at about a 70 percent clip, I remember he single handedly won that UTEP game.

I feel like each year Doh gets someone to step up and play significantly better than the year before.

Ike one year, then Killen the next.

Problem is we need more than one player on the court with potential
to step up.

For some reason, I'm not nearly as concerned (albeit genuinely concerned) about scoring then I was last year. I would have NEVER seen some of those performances coming from Killen, who I thought was a sub D1 talent. On the other hand, I can see Dia taking over games, perhaps along with Faye and hopefully an experienced Derek Williams coming in and lighting a spark.

Point is, I see opportunities for scoring on this year's team where in previous years there was simply no promise. We're two more years away from really seeing the full potential of this team, but it's still good to finally have some hope.

According to Sagarin the end of season ranking was:
318 CS Bakersfield = 60.27 8 21
279 SMU = 64.78 8 20

That does not make us really big favorites, assuming both teams remain the same.

When I was at UCR, CSUB was our biggest rival in basketball. This game will be taking me back in time 20 years.

However after SMU's recent pratfalls at home, I'm not making any assumptions.
