We definitely have no room to talk about losing to small schools early in OOC play.

Was this an exhibition game or did it count?

You'd have to think UofH brass, not only hates that result, but despises what Braun is doing over at Rice. Both those schools are in the Jai Lucas sweepstakes, so that'll likely be another nail in Penders coffin. Hopefully, Doh makes a pitch for Jai

Maybe we could make him some promises that we could not keep. You know, a Jai Lai.

I think Penders has lost it. But give him credit for building the foundation of what Texas basketball has become. Until he got there in 1988, Texas BB was off the radar.

I think Penders deserves more time. Before he got to UH they were consitent losers and now at least they have made multiple post-season appearances and are consistent winners. I know he has not met expectations of making the Big Dance, but success of that kind does not happen overnight at CUSA programs.

I hate those thug players he recruits. Other than TCU, I desperately want to beat Houston at least once this year.

True story, years back when he was Texas coach and Had Travis Mays and Blanks, SMU almost beat them at Moody but couldn't get a last second shot to fall...It looked like there was contact against the SMU players, but no foul was called.

So I was courtside and us fans were in a foul mood, so we were razzing them, calling them lucky cheaters and Penders actually tried to spit on me, luckily I guess his throat was a bit dry and just kinda dribbled down his chin, but his full attention was to hock one on me.

Hated him ever since!

I agree with u that Penders was great for UT basketball.
He is a great recruiter but I have always thought that the lack of discipline kept his teams from being great.
Its two early to judge this season after one game. The only 2 UofH games I care about are against us & we haven't had any luck beating him.
In the past we just haven't been able to match up with his teams athleticism. Hopefully all the 3's they jack up are off & things turnaround this season.

If I remember correctly with you, wasn't that a game where it was back and forth? They went to a box and 1 on that one spot up 3-point shooting guard we had (Troy something -- not Troy Matthews).

It was on a Saturday afternoon and a Raycom game of the week.

My favorite college bb player of all time is Travis Mays. He was from Ocala, Fla. and a great competitor. He came to Texas the year before I got to SMU -- I remember him hitting a 3-pointer at the buzzer at Moody that gave Texas a 51-49 win?

you're a huge Penn St/Big 10 fan, your all-time favorite college b-ball player is a Horn and you went to SMU? You're all over the place. :o

Not so much Penn St. -- that was to irritate soup bone. Minnesota.

Could have been the same game, it was a Saturday afternoon. SMU lead most of the way and had the last shot to either tie or win, one of those where SMU kept getting the rebound and firing back up near misses with lots of contact in the lane till the buzzer went off.

back to last night's game, I can tell you (as someone who watches a lot of Southern Conference basketball) that Ga Southern is no slouch. These guys won 20 games last year and returned a bunch of veteran players. Davidson has made that conference much stronger. College of Charleston dominated the conference for years, but now they are all chasing Davidson (that sounds familiar).

TCU will be opening Bobby Cremins' College of Charleston Cougars' new arena this Friday. Pretty good hoops in the So Con.
