HBU fan here.
It seems that some of you may think that HBU will be an easy win this Friday, but I think this is a winnable game for us. It looks most of your team is freshmen, and we only lost to you by 9 points last year. We have played poorly in our first two games against Marquette and Middle Tenn. St, but those are both solid teams. Hopefully, we will learn from the mistakes of those two games, and perform much better against you. Looking at your roster, I wonder who will go up against Gordon Watt. He had 26 last year in our losing effort against you. He has been one of the few positives thus far for us. I think with a good game, our first W of the season will come Friday.

I don't consider any game an easy win for us this year.

Now we have Houston Baptist fans coming our board and talking trash that they're confident they will beat us.....even though they lost badly to a
good team like Middle Tenn St?? SMU - Top 25 in all sports!

Ha. I wouldn't consider that trash talk, but oh well. If we cannot compete against SMU and Alabama St, then we are in for a much longer season than many of our fans have hoped. I think you lost your top 2 scorers from last season. It doesn't help us that it is a home game for you, but I think we definitely can win this game.
I am counting Illinois St as a loss, but if we are not at least close to you and ASU, I will be upset.

Here are their starting five:
- 4 Demetrus Judge F 6-6 195 Sr-1L St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood Central (Moberly Area CC)
- 11 Justin Wilson G 5-6 170 Sr-1L Dickinson/Dickinson (Texas Southern)
- 12 Baron Sauls G 6-2 180 Sr-1L Houston/Elsik (Texas-Arlington)
- 21 Gordon Watt G-F 6-6 225 Sr-1L Evanston, Ill./Township (Purdue)
- 45 Mario Flaherty C 6-9 230 Jr-Tr Millbrae, Calif./Mills (Skyline College)
Point guard is small and a weak position on their team. Not getting a bunch of assists out of their core guard rotation. Wilson is avg 2.5 assists per game. Looks like Sauls and Watt put up a majority of their shots. Focus our defense on their guard play and wear them down in the paint. If we settle for jump shots and don't take the ball inside, expect a close game or a loss.
Hope Bamba got a refresher course in passing out of a double team. Five turnovers will not cut it.

Judge is a hustler, and has been our leading rebounder so far, even though he really should not be. You are right, our guards have been terrible. Jacking up shots, no assists, and our team as a whole has been a foul machine. Baron Sauls is pretty good, Gordon Watt is really good. Our best big man, Emmanuel Willis is a walking injury and he is out again. Thus we have been forced to give big minutes to transfer Mario Flaherty, soph Jeremy Havard, and Demetrus Judge. Finding a second guard to do anything is proving difficult as Wilson and Morris have not given us anything. Wilson is getting waaaay too many minutes, and Morris has talent but he just jacks up shots. If we can stay out of foul trouble, we should have a shot.

Point guard is a small position on OUR team. All 3 are under 6 foot. Wilson starts for HBU, but plays about half the game. Sauls and Sean Morris will also play some time at the point.
Dont underestimate Gordon Watt, he's a legitimate player. He hung 26 on us last year, his career best against a D1 school.
HBU, what has happened to Emmanual Lewis, is he still on the team? Injured? I see his name on the roster, but he hasnt played yet, this year.

sorry, didnt see your post while I was typing. So, is Lewis out for the season? I imagine that's the end of his career.

Appears from the copied roster in smupony's post that Watt is a transfer from Purdue. That is enough for me to believe he is legit.

Boston College first, I believe, and then Purdue. He's well traveled.

Head case or just some breaks that didn't fall his way?

X, any of our short PGs would tower over Emmanuel Lewis

Hard to say, but a possible headcase. He didnt play much at all at BC, but was getting consistent minutes at Purdue, averaged about 7 points and 5 rebounds. He's from Illinois originally, so Purdue was a move closer to home. After last season he declared for the NBA draft, but didnt hire an agent, and I think that was a little over-ambitious.
I cant really say why he left, but he was getting playing time at Purdue.

Except that the guy I'm referring to is about 6'8" and 240.
Willis, not Lewis. sorry about that.
