It may turn out like Purdue-Duke last night. Spartans just don't have enough fire power to keep up. Their best hope is to do what Tom Izzo teams do best -- rebound.

Go Spartans.

I think UNC will win...they are unbelievably good but it is always a mistake to doubt a Tom Izzo team. He is a fantastic coach

That second-round game they played against each other in Winston-Salem in the 2007 NCAA tournament was such an amazing game. Think UNC pulled away and won by about 10 but it was so back-and-forth. Hansbrough had a double-double. MSU point guard Drew Neitzel played until he threw up.

I do remember the ACC/Big 10 matchup in Chapel Hill about 7 years ago when Morris Peterson went for about 34 as the Spartans won that game.

Michigan State wasn't in this game from the get go. North Carolina is scary good.

Hansbrough is on his way to being the all-time career points & rebound leader at UNC (overtaking Phil Ford & Sam Perkins respectively). That kid plays with so much heart, it's unbelievable.

If North Carolina loses more than 3 games this year, I will be shocked. Tar Heels could run the table in the ACC.

I've been a Tar Heels fan for years. This year team is something you won't see in college b-ball now. This team is very special Great coaching, great talents, great depth in all positions, and very experienced. These guys have been together for 3 years (the core players). If Doh can recruit player like McCoy for the next 2 years, we will be OK.

This is a rare team b/c while all are good, none are elite NBA talents. They were forced to stay together for a few years. The depth is great, the speed is great, but they still don't really play defense. That spells trouble come March.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

I think UNC has really played great defense this year. They forced more turnovers than any team. Though their opponents shooting percentage is around .400, it is because they ended up turning the ball over before they can shoot it. On top, UNC can push, run and score after turnovers.

I think Lawson, Ellington Hansbrough, and maybe Green will be first round draftpicks. How long they will be in the NBA, I don't know.

Hansbrough is probably one of their better defensive players. The guy brings it every night, and plays [deleted] both ends of the floor.

If Michigan State is indicative of the type of team they will face in the tourney, then that's just a little sample of how they can make a deep run this year.

Duke and Wake are tough but I can see UNC going unbeaten in the ACC. They are good and deep at every position....if one guy is off they have two who will step up

One other note coming out of the game. It was played at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions.

UNC's 98 points are five more than the Lions have scored there all season.

Nice!

UNC also had 9 turnovers the same amount as the Lions have had in their 6 home games, I watched Sportscenter this morning too.
