TCU hanging with Indiana, away

Postby Mustangsabu » Wed Dec 10, 2008 8:42 pm

I post this in an effort to demonstrate that our loss to TCU is not as much of a shock as it might have been, although our performance was horrendous.

I will say that this highlights where Doh needs to take our program. I can't wait for the next game.

I think it's quite sad we lost they way we did - TCU made a good hire I think.

Ugly game. Indiana has fallen from grace.

Indiana's program is a HUGE mess. I don't envy Tom Crean, but I think that he's a great coach and will turn things around in Bloomington.

Indiana starts 4 freshmen and a JC transfer.

The Hoosiers literally blew up this past spring, NCAA investigation, coaching change, and the roster almost completely turned over. They have 8 freshmen, and a couple of transfers. They are literally starting from scratch. For a group of guys who barely knew each others names when practice started, they are doing fairly well, but dont confuse this year's team with the traditional teams from IU. If they can avoid the Big 10 cellar, it's only because Northwestern isnt all that great, either.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

14 of IU's 16 players on their roster are new from 2007-08 season. Tom Crean might have the worst team in school history. If you've noticed, when IU plays someone fairly decent, it gets blown out. It went to Hawaii and lost to St. Josephs and Notre Dame by about 25 points.

Since this thread was started during the game, it didn't keep people up to date that the Hoosiers eventually ran away from the Frogs. They were up by as many as 23 points before TCU had some window dressing.

So 66-56 was not an indicative of how not close that was. And TCU shot enough air balls.

I'm not talking smack because they pretty much handed it to us. But as I've said before, I do like Jim Christian.

Watching TCU on ESPN2 just chaps my [deleted].
They are doing everything right over there.

They hired a very good coach with a very good system.
They signed 3 JUCOS to go along with 4 freshman. Major mistake by Robo going with 7 freshman last year.
They have upgraded their schedule.
They don't play 2 games in approx 3 weeks time.

I hope someone over on the hilltop is taking notes on how to turn a program around because they are getting it done in a hurry over there while we continue to struggle.

Makes me sick.

Hate to say it, but I agree with every word you said.

Even if we did lose by 25 that would be ok with me.
Playing @ Bloomington would be an incredible experience for our kids.
Playing in front of that type of crowd with that type of tradition is what college bb is all about.
I admire Christenson for taking his 1st year program team to Indiana & giving them a taste of real hoops instead of trying to take the easy road.
As I mentioned last year, here's hoping we have a legit schedule next year with some legit D1 teams visiting Moody.

I'm not sure "everything was in place yet" with regard to the Model the year we signed 7 Freshman. It was very odd though-a transfer or two would have been nice. I think June Jones made a mistake too at throwing a lot of scholarships at 4 year backups in last years class.

Since JJ didn't have the luxury to redshirt these kids like they needed to be we saw alot of kids that shouldn't have been on the field.
After their 3rd year we should have a good idea of what we have.
Although I was not impressed with the size of the kids.
With BB, the 2nd year is the year I notice the development or lack of the most.
