DMN Coverage - WBB

Most of you who read this will agree the DMN does a crappy job of covering SMU - I'm not writing this post to state the obvious. But I do think it's worth noting that I don't believe I've seen one article written about the women's team this year. Not even the big win against rival TCU deserved a write-up - it earned one in the Star Telegram. And if I recall correctly, I think the women only had about 2-3 write-up's by Kate last year - a season that was the best in SMU women's basketball history. They're sure quick to do a write-up when the news is bad - not so much when there might actually be something postive to write about. Irritating.

Im with you on that...but its not just DMN. Its HARD finding anything about women's sports unless you are on a mission to find it. From DMN to ESPN to FSN....its all the same. Too bad...because there are a lot of great things happening on the X side of the field.

If Blake Griffin had 104 CONSECUTIVE double doubles like his female counterpart Courtney Paris...there'd be a lead on ESPN before and after every game.

But as is...most people dont know about that INCREDIBLE record that will NEVER be broken.

Smaller paper, smaller staff, another round of layoffs down at Belo — it's wrong, but not surprising. Remember, Kate covered SMU and Olympic sports only. Bobbi covers SMU, TCU, helps out with UT and A&M and gets thrown into stuff like the Cotton Bowl. The fact is that that numbers (or lack thereof) mean they're stretched really thin. But Coach Rompola is doing an extraordinary job building a team after losing all those seniors from last year, and deserves to have Dallas aware of what's going on at Moody.

GameTracker was not working yesterday and Yahoo Sports was saying the game had not even started

Agree - there's a story to tell. Yesterday Rhonda was rolling with 3 Freshmen, a Sophomore that had limited playing time last year and a Junior.

The DMN's relevance to Dallas alone is becoming less and less. They and other major dailies can thank their arrogance about what the internet was capable of doing for a huge part in their downfall.

Checking the DMN for SMU news is really no longer a priority for me.

I am surprised to see SMU mentions in the Austin American Statesman

Did you see the article about OU's women's team in today's DMN? Now the DMN is covering OU better than SMU.

What a joke of a sports section.
