Only one thing can describe losing a game like that, and in fact, being a Mustang fan over the past 20+ years:
Mustang fan = a constant kick in the stones

Cept for SMU, the Fickle Whore of Bad Fortune is 100 percent true and committed to us, not very fickle at all.

I challenge anyone to compete with our resume for last second losses in football/bball over the last several years.
Just when you think it can't get worse...
Is this some sub-part of the death penalty nobody told us about?

Truly amazing isn't it? Especially in Football OT losses.

Can someone compile them over the last five yrs? It would be an interesting list - and maybe it will be part of the recovery - sort of like blood-letting.

Have we ever won an overtime football game? I dont believe so, even though we have had many...hell, I remember losing to BYU in the Cottonbowl back in the 90s and it has yet to cease.

Yes, we beat Tulsa once in OT, during the Phil Bennett era. You may remember it for Phil's decision to go for 2 in the 3rd quarter ( which failed) leaving the door open for Tulsa to tie the game and send it to overtime. Fortunately, in OT Tulsa threw a pick in the endzone, and we won.

while we've lost more than we've won , who will ever forget "the drive" to break UAB's heart in football?

Here is a list for football that I have come up with:
last second or OT wins:
1989 vs UConn last second win
2001 vs. Hawaii OT win
2004 vs. Tulsa OT win
2005 vs. Marshall OT win
2005 vs. UAB last second win
heart-breakers:
1992 vs. Tulane 13-12 loss (we missed a short FG at the end to win)
1994 vs. UCLA 20-17 loss - had 1st & goal late in the 4th - got zero points
1994 vs. A&M tie - missed FG (a longer one) at the end to win
1995 vs. A&M 20-17 loss (Aggy last second TD)
1996 vs. Rice loss - SMU RB (Jacques Smith?) tackled on the Rice 1 on the last play of the game
1996 vs. Missouri 27-26 loss (I seem to remember a missed PAT or something like that)
1997 vs. BYU OT loss
1998 vs. Ole Miss OT loss after being up by about 20 points at half
1998 vs. Rice OT loss (I think we missed a FG at the end of regulation to win it)
2000 vs. Houston 17-15 loss
2006 vs. Rice - last game of the season
2007 vs. UTEP OT loss 48-45
2007 vs. Tulane OT loss 41-34
2007 vs. Rice 43-42 loss

...don't forget the two losses in 2008 we had for the taking...Tulsa and Houston!
