Game Day "Management"?

Last night, we tied the game at 39 and Moody was the loudest we've heard it in years. There's a media timeout and they trot out the "Kiss Cam". Goodbye noise. Goodbye electricity. Goodbye home court advantage.
Who is the genius behind that unfortunate decision?
It's probably the same guy who scripts the Band to play the "Hey Song" at the under 8:00 time out no matter the situation. Down 20 to UTEP, let's get their fans to be loud. Down 11 to Memphis, let's get their fans to be loud. Madness.
I really wish somebody would get a clue of how to run a basketball game....or a football game for that matter.

totally agree. even my 12 yr old turns to me and says dad, do they have to do the dang kiss cam NOW?? What a buzz kill.
Also, the old ladies hooping at halftime were sweet and admirable for their geriatric efforts, but yet another awkward, uncomfortable, unentertaining halftime "show".
you can also put the misscoring by the SMU scorers table in the bucket of game management. Along with our goofy PA guy, who on a couple of occassions couldnt help himself I guess and blurted out an excited "tigers ball" on a deflection or mustang turnover as if he forgot where he was for a second. Give me Dan Bell or Bill Melton all day long.
Despite these things to which i have grown accustomed, i enjoyed most of the game last night and appreciate the effort that guys like Paul McCoy and Derrick Williams were giving on the floor.

It's what happens when you follow a script, and nobody cares enough to deviate from the script when the situation calls for it.
"Just be a drone. It's only SMU. I'll be working somewhere else next year anyway."

Heh, I thought the same thing... but the script comment is deadly accurate and we don't dare deviate from it. I guess because they are sponsored.
Media Timeout Playbook:
First timeout - Pizza
Second Timeout - the rediculous dribble down the court as the announcer counts back from five....and so on....
Do all that crap in the first half if you must. If ever was there a time when we needed the cheerleaders on the floor holding signs, the Pony dancing around madly, and the dance team shaking their money makers with the band going full blast...that was it.

Right. They act as if thier script is written in stone tablets as if they were the Ten Commandments
I - Thou shalt give a away Campisi's Pizza under 16:00
II - Thou shalt have a wacky race under 12:00
III - Thou shalt have a dance cam under 8:00
IV - Thou shalt let the Band play under 4:00
V - Thou shalt have lame halftime entertainment
VI - Thou shalt have a kiss cam under 16:00
VII - Thou shalt have a pig race under 12:00
VIII - Thou shalt have the Band play the Hey Song under 8:00
IX - Thou shalt do the Go Chant & Pony Battle Cry under 4:00
X - Thou shalt not deviate from the Commandments no matter the situation because these great bits are sponsored
Hopefully, Moses Orsini will become enraged and break these tablets in disgust.
Unforunately, last night's momentum and home court advantage died by the law.

I don’t care about the songs, the pizza, and the [deleted]. I just want to know why we let Memphis dominate us past the point of the tied game! They were attacking us up court and we had no answer for it.

It was a real disappointment to see the Kiss Cam ruin what was true excitement from fans. Doh was even turning around to the students and pumping them up even more. It was awesome.
I don't want to blame the Kiss Cam for our loss, but the following 10 minutes, Memphis went on a 21-8 run. That definitely seems like a turning point to me. That might have happened anyways...might just be coincidence.

Simple, Williams and McCoy had no legs left and Memphis just kept rolling in talented fresh legs.........It's hard to sprint side to side to deny the 3 after having to beat a press the entire game. Memphis just stepped into their shots while our 2 guys were sucking air.............

Game stats say memphis only played 3 subs and all their starters played over 30 min except for Taggert.

While we're discussing commandments......
TEN COMMANDMENTS OF NO MA'AM
1. It is OK to call hooters 'knockers' and sometimes snack trays
2. It is wrong to be French
3. It is OK to put all bad people in a giant meat grinder
4. Lawyers, see rule three
5. It is OK to drive a gas-guzzler if it helps you get babes
6. Everyone should car pool except us
7. Bring back the word stewardesses
8. Synchronized swimming is not a sport
9. Mud wrestling is a sport

Definitely not blaming the Kiss Cam on the loss, but that was a rare moment at Moody where the crowd was electrified and would have continued the frenzy if cheer teams would have taken the court as soon as the buzzer sounded and let everyone keep their enthusiam.
You could feel the air go out of the place as 90's synth pop started over the PA....

This problem has existed for years - it seems like every rare moment of excitement they choose to give some advertising annoucement instead of letting the band play peruna or piping in some appropriate music.
