We weren't the better team on Thursday in Hattiesburg.

However, I want to thank the clock operator of being slow on the trigger in the final 1.7 seconds of the first half.

The 3 at the buzzer was pretty questionable.

If you recorded it or watch it on replay, back that thing up a couple of times and you'll see it. The kid who hit the shot got the ball and I think took a step before the time was released. Of course, she got off it with plenty of time because of the help.

But I really think something was up to make sure that shot would go before the buzzer.

You're telling me you catch, take a step and get and the shot off with 1.7 seconds?

That's a catch and shoot thing.

Somebody from SMU better look at that.

If somebody saw it differently, tell me what you think.

Didn't see the play but 1.7 is enough time to catch step and shoot generally. When she caught the ball was she in an awkward position or took her time making the play? That would obviously make a difference.

If I remember correctly, she was guarded when she caught it and if I remember correctly, she had to move around the SMU defender. She was offbalance. I think she had to lean to her right to hoist up the shot.

But my initial reaction was, why didn't the clock move. I could be wrong but something didn't look right.

I wasn't paying too close of attention, but I definitely remember thinking that she covered a lot of ground and still had plenty of time to get the shot off before that 1.7 secs expired. Most likely wouldn't have made a difference in the end, but USM certainly had the momentum rolling into half.

Actually, we were the better team - we just played like crap. They had a good night and we had an awful night, and we were in it until the end. I'd love to see them again in New Orleans next month.
