I am so confused. Please read Doh's blog from Feb 8th.

"Coming Together"

This team is really coming together! Last night we put another demon to rest by winning at a place where we have struggled since we have been here - Southern Miss. Our guys are playing with a great deal of confidence right now. They believe! A huge part of that win last night was the very vocal, very supportive group of UAB fans who absolutely took over Reed Green Coliseum. You have no idea how much that meant to our guys and I am convinced they didn't want to let those fans down. This is a fun team to be around. They know what's at stake and we have developed the mental & physical toughness need to win big this time of the year. The previous week we put to rest the demons at Marshall. That was a very big win coming off the difficult-to-take loss at Tulsa. I won't say much about that Tulsa game. It was one in which we played well enough to win it, but just didn't finish it off. Anyone who saw that game can draw their own conclusions, but in the course of a season this long, you are what your record says you are. There are games you win that you probably shouldn't have and there are games you lose that you probably should have won. At the end of the day it comes down to pushing the buttons that allow your team to play as hard as possible all the time & be as productive as possible all the time. That's a formula that every coach in the country is trying to bottle - just ask Notre Dame, Georgetown, etc. We are closing in on that. Our guys are getting it and as long as we stay healthy, we will continue to move a little closer to that formula each time out. We need your support though. I never take that lightly. We can FEEL IT when you are with us. It's also easy to spot when you're not.

We have a full week until our next game at home vs SMU next Saturday. It gives us a chance to rest our guys - Coach has given them Sunday & Monday off (just a lift on Monday). We'll get back in preparation mode on Tuesday. 16-8; 6-3 has us very much in the hunt. We know each time out we have to lay it on the line. So far over the past 7 or eight games our guys have learned to do that. Let's just keep it going.

GO BLAZERS!!!

It looks like that is a blog post by UAB head Coach Mike Davis (or someone on his staff). Does UAB have the same site administrators that SMU does? Could be an IT mix-up.

Perhaps he wanted to show us what the competition was thinking.

Oops! Looks like CSTV posted the wrong blog...but reading about winning conference games on Doh's blog was a refreshing change!

And no surprise that Doh snuck this comment in after Memphis handled up on Gonzaga on Saturday...
It was good to see Memphis demolish Gonzaga in Spokane on Saturday. That is good for our league and it should be good for our player’s confidence. We played Memphis better than the top-twenty Zags did!

Pretty sure we hear this every season after playing Memphis close at home and then they proceed to knock off Top 25 teams in the tourney.

This conference is going to be a one-bid league to the NCAA tournament.

Tulsa and UAB both have a chance at getting an NCAA bid I would think, although neither would be in if the tourney selection were today. Both should end up in some sort of post-season play. UH and UCF both stand a chance to make one of the post season tournaments as well.

We have been a 1 NCAA bid conference for a couple of seasons now, which is why I cannot believe they do not move the CUSA tourney out of Memphis. Why, when you know you are a 1 bid league, do you host the tourney every year in the city that is home to that 1 bid team. For goodness sakes, move the CUSA tourney and increase the chance of someone other than Memphis winning, and thus an auto bid for another team in the conference.

Wonder where CUSA would make more money? Does it make more money having sell outs with Memphis hosting the CUSA Tourney or more money if two teams made the dance? Even if one team was one and done?

Yes, it's in Tulsa next season. It was supposed to be there this season, but for some reason that didn't happen.
