Old Game FilmMy dad played basketball for SMU briefly in the early 70s, and from my understanding, some of his game film would be quite entertaining. Does anyone know of any way to get it?
If anybody would have it-it would be at this Heritage Hall Link.

We still have a lot of games that are not listed online. If you will email me at [email protected] I will try and help you. Let me know who your father was and I can also check for individual pictures.
Indeed....Clayton Kovar....he was a GREAT one.
I really enjoyed watching him. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
actually it was Clayton Korver...and if you can get film of the Nebraska game during the '70-'71 season, that would have been one of his better games. He dominated the boards during a crucial run (Moody was alive that night) and the Ponies went on to win 80-75
some of us remember "the animal"
Yep CP...I didn't feel comfortable calling him Kovar...I actually had typed Korvar then changed it...my mistake was relying on Mrydel.
![]() Anyways...I remember a game at Moody where a fight broke out at the end. From where I was sitting, it was like all the players were standing still and this Tornado called Clayton Korver was racing through the court. He must have had some boxing training.
He changed the spelling to fool the paparazzi.
I am not sure this is the person to whom the kid referred. I just thought maybe due to the sign-in name being Christian K (note the initials being identical to Clayton Kove(a)r) that Clayton may be the one. Regardless, I occasionally have nightmares of Clayton rebounding. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Yes, Clayton Korver is my father. I mentioned posting this request to him, and he said specifically to find the 70-71 Nebraska game, and that being something special to see, saying it really set them up for the next season. He just ordered the Texas game. I'll be in touch with you soon Gerry (50's Pony). Thanks for the help.
To answer some of the questions: He was drafted to the Eagles and Chiefs for a stint in the NFL, and played in Hawaii for the WFL. His brother Kelvin played for the Raiders and earned a superbowl ring in 1976. Regarding the boxing, he grew up constantly fighting his older brother. He was also a Golden Gloves fighter (not sure how he placed) and was training for a bit to fight professionally, (my Grandfather was and still is an excellent boxer) but got sidtracked with other ventures. He has countless stories of fistfights on (and off) the court, even some involving player's parents coming out on the court and squaring off. He still rebounds the same way.
I REALLY hope you can find that Nebraska game...would be good for every SMU fan to watch just to remember what Moody can be.
Clayton was clearing boards with a vengeance that night, slapping the ball with two hands as he brought 'em down, elbows flying, hair flying, then holding the ball overhead like it was a volleyball, looking to clear it to a guard for another fast break bucket. The students filled all of the courtside bleachers back then...Moody could hold about 10,000...and the student section did not sit down until half time. Might be as close to Cameron Indoor as Moody ever looked. Your dad would probably tell you the crowd fed off the team's enthusiastic play and vice-versa. We weren't top 25 by any stretch of the imagination back then...but the enthusiasm for SMU basketball was far beyond what it has been ever since the death penalty disrupted the Dave Bliss era of top 25 basketball on the hilltop. I just hope all the younger generation SMU faithful get to experience it someday. Hopefully we will see close to 9,000 in Moody going crazy when SMU upsets Memphis in the not too distant future. Just hope they can figure out a way to get the students more involved so as to create a more intimidating atmosphere in Moody. I just can't picture a bunch of influential boosters jumping up and down during a critical stretch of a close game.
12-12-70 SMU vs. Nebraska -- we have the game.
