What a comeback by Wake......two great teams in a great environment - I love college hoops

Wake's guards are incredibly good

it's a bitter twist of irony that Duke's inability to play D like other Duke teams will ultimately be their undoing.

Can't outscore everyone.

See the UNC game a couple of weeks ago.

Glad they held on in this one.

Duke's other problem is that it relies on the 3-pointer to carry it. Post game is questionable. That's why they have been an early out the last couple of years in the NCAA tournament.

When they go cold, they look very ordinary. I like Gerald Henderson and John Scheyer but too much from the perimeter can make you very beatable.

I'd be surprised if they reached the Sweet 16 this year.

You guys don't watch too many Duke games (RGV, I thought you did). This Duke team plays VERY good defense, but are forced to play an up tempo game, when the opponent has a big man. This team DOES NOT rely on the threes by any means.

Wake's guard play is EXCELLENT.

watched damn near all of 'em.

Watched a loss on an inbound play while inside Old Number 7 waiting for the Mavs game to start. Of course, I guess you could make the argument that the D made that one a game, as what was it a 33% shooting night? Watched a loss to UNC, in which UNC scored the most points in the series in a long while, after convincining the pit boss in an Arizona casino to switch it from the Suns game to Duke-UNC, and watched Wake come back and make it close last night.

Good defense I did see on the road vs Ga Tech and at home vs Maryland. Should've trounced St Johns. Rhode Island, Michigan, Miami and BC all should've been held to less than they had, IMO.

Clemson was a nightmare.

Dook plays pretty good D, especially compared to Carolina. Certainly, no post presence and poor big man recruiting hasn't helped them, but they've been an outside in team for years. Obviously, K's best teams feature legit bigs, so he needs to right that ship. They live and die w/the 3, like an ultra-talented mid major.

Wake is just embarrassingly athletic. We'll see what Gaudio has before long. If Johnson, Teague and Aminu sniff the league this year, gone are Skip's kids.

Last post as this is not a Duke site. Certainly a Tarhole is not going to be able to give an unbiased opinion.

Defense-

Opponents shoot 41% against Duke. They have played poorly of late. If you took out the last fours games, they kept them under 40%.

Duke has 243 steels vs. 169 by opponents.

Duke has 356 turnovers vs. 479 by opponents.

These are stats against a Top 5 schedule.

As to living and dying by the three, Duke only shoots 33% from three. This is not a good shooting 3-point team. Historically Duke has been around 39%.

Just to end this thread, Dook loses tomorrow vs Maryland. Comcast is going to be a powder keg after the Carolina win. I expect Paulus to cry.

and for the last word, that powder keg will get the Terps through maybe the first five minutes. I think Vasquez tries too hard to make up for what happened after running his mouth before the game at Cameron.

Go Ponies.
