SMU is currently tied for 1st with UTEP and USM but I believe USM has the tie breaker edge. Tulane recently beat USM in a strong fashion.

USM has the tiebreaker against us, and our last game is against UTEP. So if we win tonight, we are likely playing for regular season co-championship and the second seed in the tourney. That would be pretty nice, considering this is a team virtually without seniors.

SMU is tied with Southern Miss and UTEP, and one game ahead of Houston and UCF. If there is a tie for the top record in the conference, co-champions will named, no matter how many teams are in the tie. Tiebreakers will be used only to determine postseason seedings.
I've been told that there is a scenario in which ALL FIVE teams could tie for the conference championship, but since I don't have a graduate degree in nuclear physics, I can't do the breakdown. Technically, we could lose tonight and still be playing for at least a share of the conference championship Saturday afternoon, but that also would require an exhaustingly long breakdown.
Long story short: BEAT TULANE!

A chance at a 5-way tie is pretty weird - not a common thing to see. I think the scenarios are if SMU, S. Miss and UTEP go 1-1 and Houston and UCF go 2-0, you have the 5-way tie.
I'm with you though PonyPride - can't be caught up in the race - just have to take care of business on your home court.
I'm going to be at the game tonight. I heard it's Rockwall night so it should be a great crowd. Go Mustangs!

I'd love to get there Saturday but the 9-year-old's soccer season is underway and her game is at 3:30. Rats!

Couple of notables:
Delisha Wills is out indefinitely with a sprained ankle. Friend of mine told me she's doubtful for the tournament.
Christine Elliott set the single-game rebounding record with 21.
Haley Day was amazing with a double-double. Think it was 18 and 11 -- or that's where I lost count.
Alan Stone called the game in place of Ray. Stone did his usual fine job.
Congrats ladies, and beat UTEP!!
