Word is the school will start collecting bids this spring from companies hoping to design/carry out the overhaul of our arena.
It needs some modernization, to be sure, but there's a lot about it that I really like. Hope they keep the feel of the original arena in mind when drawing up designs.

The first thing it needs is a better mens basketball team! We have maybe one game a year with more than 3,000 people in attendance.

I would like to see a remodeling of Moody that serves that high level boosters (premium seating/boxes) and returns the students to courtside. If it reduces Moody's capacity to about 7000-7500....that's all we need.

That is a great idea....
Wish they woulda announced this before the last home game, going to be sad that we saw our last game in old Moody and didn't even know it, would have liked to have brought the camera.

how about a seating overhaul - its amazing what a cluster it's become. what are they trying to do at the north end with the black platform thing?
hopefully someone with some sense will blow the seating scheme up completely. wasted space.
I think the seating capacity now is only like 7500 already.

If anything, they should reduce the seating in Moody to between 7,000 - 7,500 given that a typical SMU mens game draws 2,000 - 2,500. Even a game against a perennial top 25 program like Memphis did not even draw 6,500.

That's the east end, Magellan.

they could take Moody down to 6,000 seats and it would not be a problem. Still wouldn't have many sellouts, even if SMU does eventually build a top 25 caliber team again. Could have a nice little snake pit with 6000-6500 seats - like the old Gallagher-Iba was at OSU, except it would include seats large enough for adults to sit in.

How about some blinders in the men’s bathroom!

It would be a good idea to put some hand rails on the stairs.

Raise the roof and expand the total arena area while taking down seating capacity by making the seating area much more comfortable.
