"We just kept taking it to them," said Samuels, one of four Mustangs to score in double figures"......................

"At this point in the season, we're known for this. With 10 minutes left, it's over," said junior guard Derek Williams....................

This speaks volumes about the job the women have done this year. They lost Janielle Dodds (wasn't she an All-American?), Sharee Shepherd (defensive player of the year), Katie Cobb (general badass who could score, defend, handle the ball and made the play of the year when she planted UTEP's stud guard in the CUSA final), Katie Gross (great 3-point shooter), and added ... five freshmen (one as a transfer). Unless your team is bringing in Candace Parker or Derrick Rose, you never can realistically expect freshmen to do too much, and for this year's class, it took a while. But you talk about a team that got the most out of its ability - this has been a pretty amazing run. I was never much of a fan of the women's game until a few years ago, but after this season, I'm completely hooked.

Hate to see something like Derek's quote from one of our players. When you expect to lose, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Normally I dont like comparing the mens and womens teams, because it becomes divisive, but since this thread is already started, perhaps this is the appropriate place to say good work to Jillian Samuels, she stepped up and had her bets game of the year, when it was needed most, 19 points, and her shooting percentages were almost perfect, 5/6 from the floor, 3/4 from 3-point range, and 6/6 at the free throw line. With Delisha Wills out, other people have had to step up, and Jillian gave it to us when it was needed most.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.
