Now, their fans are more than rabid. But it's funny when you read some posts about a team struggling. Strangely, the complaints are similar to ours.

He did fine at A&M and seemed to recruit very well. Peter principle. He rose one level above his competency from A&M to Kentucky. Aggie fans are happy to have a winning season in basketball. Kentucky fans expect a Final Four appearance annually.

Are Kentucky fans and boosters a bit delusional or has it really been a string of bad coaching. That place has burned up and spit out many of the top coaches. Heck I can remember all the way back when Eddie Sutton left Arkansas and then went there and bombed.

The days of automatic SEC titles are gone and they just need to realize that they are a great program wiith a storied history, but everyone else has caught up....much like Notre Dame in football.

If they're going to can him, I wish he'd come coach for us. I would be happy with a winning season ;)

I don't know if I buy the whole "out of his league" deal for Billy G. - I mean Doherty is clearly not out of his league at SMU, he's just not getting it done. Who really knows why? Everyone has their own theory. I think we all agree it's not a good fit (with Doh...jury is still out on Gillispie but it's not looking good).

I think that sometimes a coach just has to be the right fit for the school.

How about Billy Clyde to replace Doh if he gets run out of Kentucky next year and Doh lays another egg. The man can recruit Dallas............

I wonder if one of their boosters will "self-report" an NCAA violation so that they can fire Gillespie for cause and not have to pay a huge buy out. Did he buy any of his kids, a burger or give them a box of Tide?

Total flake.

I bet he could squeeze a winning season out of the current SMU squad though.
