There seems to be a movement among some of the top recruits in the country to recreate a "Fab 5" at Memphis. Word of God teammates Wall and Leslie seem to be leaning to Memphis and I am hearing that they are in the ear of the kid committed to Ga. Tech (Favors)

Maybe we can steal Nolan Dennis from them, since we can offer him a starter role and all Memphis will offer him is a cushy chair on the sideline.

I like it...hope Memphis wins it all this year and can take some of the attention away from the Big East and ACC. I'd like to see them become make a run on several consecutive Final Four appearances.

The better Memphis gets, the more national attention and the better the potential for the rest of CUSA to improve

great players want to compete against the best. Meanwhile, SMU affords an opportunity for a great player to come in here and become the next Steph Curry...that "Pied Piper" recruit some have talked about

I agree that Memphis being a National Championship contender year in and year out is a great thing for C-USA, but the rest of the conference HAS to step up and do their part. With the recruiting class that Memphis is about to bring it, it looks like the gap between them and the rest of the conference is just going to widen even more. The longer this winning streak lasts against the rest of the conference, the more disrespect the league is going to get...even if Memphis is the top team in the country.

If Memphis wins it all, doesn't CUSA / SMU receive some money?

Sorry for being negative, but I don't see how this is good for SMU or CUSA. I think Memphis has a real shot at going undefeated next year in cusa and if things don't change soon they could approach 90+ straight conference wins.

Yeah. The Pac 10 basketball and college basketball as a whole sucks because of that terrible old John Wooden. He would not let anyone win for a few years.

I'm a lot younger than the John Wooden Era, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but for the most part the Pac-10 and its other teams never really got better during that era. It wasn't till Wooden left that the league became somewhat balanced.

I would rather strive for good than balance.

There were some good teams during that era (i.e. USC was 24-2 in '71), but in those days only the conference champion could go to the NCAA. So except for the 16 teams chosen for the NIT, a lot of good teams stayed home.

You are correct, ASDF, about the Pac 10 and Wooden era. And good initial post, by the way.

Memphis steamrolling through the league, year after year, without a challenge is an embarrassment for CUSA. Nationally, the league is viewed as 'Varsity' (Memphis) and 'JV' (everybody else).

That said, the way Memphis has recruited the last few years, they would be very good in just about any league but the way they manhandle everyody else in CUSA is terrible for the perception of the league.

Reminds me of Big 8 Football back when OU and Nebraska dominated - 'Big Two' and 'Little 6'.

I just have a hard time finding a silver lining in Memphis beating everyone else in the conference every game, every year.

I guess if you subscribe to the idea that any publicity is good publicity than it is Ok.

If you are happy with the financial table scrapes that Memphis brings with its NCAA tournament apperences than that is OK.

But the idea that the rest of the conference is going to "step up" and do its part is laughable, things seem to be going in the opposite direction.

Memphis is going to have its pick of one and done NBA players while the rest of CUSA has the pick of all-district players.

The 'JV' in the league and - specifically - SMU aren't just gonna get better because Memphis is ranked in the top five and killing it in recruiting.

SMU needs to recruit better players. For all the folks that said Doh is a good/great recruiter, you sure wouldn't know it by what he has brought in at SMU. The Pones don't have a guy that would be in the rotation at Memphis.

Don't worry...SMU will not be middle fo the pack with onyone's All- District players. We will improve with Memphis' help and then see if Washinton State or North carolina State will care to play our meager assemblage of All-district players in Moody Coliseum. I think they will both say their "schedules will not allow it". Pac 10 was good back then and is somewhat decent today. Not much better than CUSA.

Paul McCoy would definitely be in their rotation. I think Derek Williams would also contribute.
