watched the profile on ABC News on UCONN's Women's Coach who has won 6 National Titles and went undefeated 32-0 w/o any game closer than 10 points. He seems to have the people skills, coaching skills and intensity to Coach the men too. But I don't know if that has ever happened.

Damn impressive resume

I know several womens coaches who became assistants in the mens game, but off the top of my head I cant think of any who went on to become successful mens head coaches. And I should add that the womens head coaches who switches to the mens side weren't particularly successful as womens head coaches, most left their previous jobs because they werent winning.

From conversations I've had with some male coaches in the womens game, the biggest issue is recruiting. The coach who has spent time in the womens game hasnt made the contacts or spent time evaluating male recruits. It takes years to catch up.

I may be wrong but wasn't Don Haskins a woman's high school coach before he went to UTEP?

it kind of does. From UTEP's site:

Haskins' coaching career began at Benjamin High School in Benjamin, Texas in 1955. He was a teacher and coach of both boys and girls teams at Benjamin High from 1955-56. Haskins also headed the basketball programs at Hedley (Texas) High School from 1956-60 and Dumas (Texas) High School from 1960 -61.

Wasn't there some speculation that Pat Summitt was going to coach the Tennessee Men's team a few years back? Tennessee hired Bruce Pearl instead.

Speedy Morris was a successful women's coach at LaSalle who went on to become the men's coach there during the Lionel Simmons era, where the Explorers went 30-2.
