Denton Paper blog discussing FIU....mention SMU and Doh.
Are we a rival of theirs? Is Sanders really switching to DB?

http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/archi ... uying.html

"Former LSU coach John Brady ended up at Arkansas State, Mike Jarvis went to Florida Atlantic, which also gave Matt Doherty a second chance before he left for SMU.

(Insert your own joke about Doherty taking a step down by leaving FAU for SMU here)"

"FIU is taking a bath in a local rivalry, which is about as pleasant as UNT fans watching SMU succeed in anything (and I am not saying they have)"

If Texas needed a prostate exam, they'd start in Denton.

The Knicks owe him $12 million over the next couple of years, so no need for a paycheck. In lieu of a paycheck, they probably offered him all the sleeping pills he could ever desire.

If so, I'm thinking it applies to the NBA only. Dude isn't going to take a job and "donate" his salary if he wasn't getting paid by somebody. Let's get real here.

Since retirement as a player, everything Isiah has touched has turned to cr@p. How can anyone expect FIU to be any different?

He actually had some strong success in talent evaluation through the draft. His first 4 years as an exec. were all spent wioth the Toronto Raptors and his four first round picks were- Damon Staudamire, Marcus Camby, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady. Don't really recall who he picked while at Indiana (or maybe he was actually only coach there). With the Knicks he stole David Lee late and had a couple other good pickups as well.

That said, I don't think he will do a great job at FIU. Hopefully he does a better job than Drexler did at UH. That was a train wreck.
