Arizona preps headed to junior college...

A couple of former D-I commits and one of the summer's hottest point guards are headed to junior college...
We received a heads-up from our good friend, Anthony Ray of Arizona Preps that three of the top talents in Arizona in the Class of 2009 have decided to head to junior college. The trio Nick Markovich, Shayar Lee, and Blake Nash will be highly recruited players over the next eighteen months.
Nick Markovich, the 6-5 combo guard, from Chandler, AZ Basha High surprised us last spring when he committed to Point Loma U, a D-II program after garnering a number of D-I offers.
But, after considering his situation, the Fully qualified combo guard, has decided to attend Bakersfield CC, CA and re-open his recruiting. This Jake Kelly (Iowa transfer to Indiana State) play-alike averaged 18 points abd handed out 5 assists as a senior. He is a solid ball handler who can knock down long range jumper. He should make an immediate impact this fall at Bakersfield.
He had interest from Colorado State, Utah State, Hawaii, Toledo, Iowa, and SMU last spring look for them along with others to get involved with this juco freshman who will have three years eligibility.
Shayar Lee, a 6-4 wing guard, was headed to Northern Arizona, but decided to re-open his recruiting this spring and will be playing this winter at Phoenix CC, AZ this winter according to Coach Ray.
He had interest from SMU, UC Irvine, Denver, Fairfield, and San Diego before choosing the Lumberjacks. So we expect the mids on up to be involved from day one with this explosive wing scorer.
Last, but certainly not least is 5-11 point guard Blake Nash who really blew up this summer. He is extremely quick, can really pass the rock and sets it up with a more than adequate jump sjhot from around the perimeter.
He is headed to Williston State CC, ND and will red-shirt this year to get academics in line, then play as a sophomore and have three years of eligibility left.
He heard from Arizona, Indiana, Washington State, Marquette, and Miami (FL) this summer after his stellar stint with the Arizona Magic. Look for that list to grow before he makes a college choice in in the fall of 2010.
