On the morning of Oct. 1

When you awake in the morning you will know two things:
1. The first organized basketball practices will commence in two weeks on Oct. 15.
2. The official men's and women's basketball schedules have not been released. Of course, we had to learn who we were playing through other sources. But that certainly as hell didn't stop the athletic department from scouring the alums for dinero for the upcoming basketball dinner and billing season ticket holders.
Sorry SMU. There is just no acceptable explanation for this.

"certainly as hell"?
".... scouring alums for dinero"?
What language do you speak?

Dear SMU,
W/2 small children and a recession, I need the schedule far in advance, so I can plan to attend games. You aren't helping your fans back the team, if they don't know the schedule until the season starts.

Patton, you're wrong about organized workouts. I believe NCAA allows the teams 2 hours/week organized workouts during pre-season period. And based on my talk with coaching staff, they've been doing that since mid September. I think you mean official practices start mid October.
While i do understand your frustration with the b-ball schedules not being released, i want to point out that it's been like this since I was a FR. So you or anybody should not be surprised!

Rack, on the first that is what I meant. Note the change in the first.

This is my new favorite saying.

I see your point, but the staff has been making arrangements to accomodate the all new, bigger-and-better addition to our equine collection from our friends at Oklahoma State in their quest to win the "It's All About ME!" award.

Xavier just released its schedule on October 1st also.

Therefore, Gomer surely must think Xavier is an amateur program, too.
Or maybe Xavier had its athletic staff gutted in budget-cutting moves, too.

I don't think it takes a gutted staff to fail to release the basketball schedule. I don't know the circumstances surrounding Xavier's schedule release. And quite frankly, that's there business.
I'm interested in what SMU does and does not do. They botched this as far as I was concerned because of the reasons I already gave. You would be wise to review them.
