I agree that the 15-16 win mark is a reasonable goal for this team. I think they have the talent to be better than that and will be thrilled with 17-20 wins, but a lot will have to go right to make that kind of leap in one season.
Papa Dia is still a huge question mark. I think Mo Faye can be a solid player, but I don't think I'm quite as high on him as others are. Hopefully the leadership he showed on his national team this summer carries over and he can consistently provide an all around game night in and night out. Outside of McCoy and Williams (and probably Faye too), I'm very curious who is going to step up and contribute regularly. There are several candidates but someone (Rob N? Haynes?) needs to assert themselves -- which is tough if Doh sticks with his bizarre substitution pattern.
And that leads to my biggest question mark -- Coach Doh. He now has a full roster of his players and there is decent talent to work with, so is his coaching going to bring out the best in these guys or hinder them?
I think postseason play is still a pipe dream. Assuming C-USA is once again a very average basketball conference with very little national respect, I doubt SMU will be high enough in the standings to even garner any discussion of playing in the NIT or that other new tourney. But I have no problem being wrong either...
15-16 wins - a good season for this team
17-20 wins - a great season
Under 15 win - let the coaching search begin...
