UNIVERSITY PARK – SMU senior Derek Williams blew by South Florida defenders time and again to score 19 points and keep the Mustangs in their season opener Friday night.
But after his final floater and an ensuing foul shot drew SMU to within four points with about a minute to play, SMU would get no closer. The Big East's Bulls held on for a 67-61 victory in front of 2,213 at Moody Coliseum.
