UNIVERSITY PARK – SMU forward Christine Elliott couldn't recall exactly how it happened.

She grabbed the carom from teammate Brittany Gilliam's missed shot, dribbled, threw the ball up against the glass, watched it fall through the hoop and heard a whistle. By the time it was over, her mind was racing.

"I have to make the free throw," she said to herself.

Elliott did, completing a three-point play that helped the Mustangs cling to a precarious lead in the final 22 seconds of a 76-71 victory over Arkansas at Moody Coliseum on Wednesday.
