...that's where the lack of a point guard really kills you because you probably could have split those four games.

No doubt. Last night, Will flipped out when they started the scramble double right over half court. If he had vision and was composed, we would have shot lay-ups.

well yeah, but makes it even more frustrating that we brought in jucos like Clinkscales and Luttman this year and nothing else. The roster doesn't point to a foreseeable turnaround yet.

This past year's recruiting class was a strike-out. The one coming in sounds more promising.

not to mention Kwiat taking up a scholarship. Does Doh owe that kid's dad a favor or something? I don't even think he had his uniform on beneath his warmups vs Memphis

There was a game in the fall where I made a comment on here along the lines of "Why didn't Doh put TK in?" Think it was PonyDoh or Hoop Fan who said that they heard that Doh yelled at him to go in, but TK forgot to put his shorts on under his warmups

Just some comments/statements. I haven't seen any improvement for several years. They don't come prepared to play; mentally or physically. Not much talent on this team. They don't play together as a team; no cohesiveness and no leadership. What you seen the last two games is what you'll see over and over; hit or miss. SMU needs to get a "coaching staff" in here.

Tomasz - he must not want to play very much at all...if he did he would get off his "you know what" and go play somewhere, if he could. He seems content to sit on the bench...hopefully he's getting an education. If he "really wanted to play" he would leave SMU and go play somewhere, maybe he has no talent. Gotten rid of some players, Malone for one, kept some bench warmers and gotten some more! REBUILDING!

Blah, as if every kid recruited is expected to see the floor. We have 13 ships and have a trimmed rotation of about 9, depending on circumstance. People make such a big deal about TK, but he's just a big kid we took a chance on. He wasn't supposed to contribute unless he really stepped it up, which is a chance you take on a 7ft kid, especially late late Spring.
You guys treat Clink like he sucks, which isn't the case. Kid can score the ball and really shoot. Give him a minute, he's only a soph. Per minute played, he's a very effective scorer

I agree with you on Clinkscales, willing to give him some more time. Liked his big shot against Memphis. Can you explain the scholarship given to Lutzman? I know he is a tall guy, but he is totally uncoordinated. I would actually be content if he came in and blocked a shot, pulled down a few rebounds. Instead he goes for a rebound and it fumbles out of his hands every time.

WIth the close loses it just shows you what a fine line there is between winning & losing.
Its all about execution down the stretch & that's where ball handling, rebounding, mental toughness, etc.. comes into play. We saw that this year with the football team. Coaches & players both thought they could win & they started winning the close games.
That's why the S Miss game is such a bummer for me. 4 in a row, coming off an upset W against Memphis & then a major let down. Big game against Tulane. A tough road W and its back to .500 in conference.
As far as Clink goes, really need him to step it up with McCoy likely out for the year. I don't really think we know what he can do based on his playing time. Looks like the opportunity is coming & hopefully he takes advantage of it. The only concern I have is his ball handling skills. At 6'0 or 6'1, you gotta be able to handle the rock. Not sure he can do that right now. That's not to say he can't develop into a better ball handler.

I have not heard what the official news is on McCoy. But it sounded bad when he was carried to the locker room.
That said, I would think that Clinkscales would collect the McCoy is leaving behind. Doherty is going to have to trust him to spell Williams and/or Walker. A pefect chance to make the most of the opportunity.

Papa is right about Clink's ball-handling. He seems like a shooter that has enough handle to take a few dribbles and pull up, but not a guy that can actually attack the rack.
