Marshall is on a roll.We really need the SMU student body out next week against the Thundering Herd as they have got a real stud 7'0 Freshman as he went off last night. Marshall has won 7 games in a row and plays UTEP at home this next Tuesday for a big CUSA game. Marshall shot sixty- seven (67) Free Throws last night in their game vs. UCF! ( made 43 of them)
"Marshall freshman Hassan Whiteside became the first C-USA player to register three career triple-doubles, and he has accomplished that feat just this season. Whiteside tallied 14 points, 11 rebounds and a school and conference-record 13 blocks to lead the Thundering Herd to a 121-115 triple overtime win against UCF. He also set Marshall's career blocks record with 159 this season." A player like this could turn around anyones BBalls team, including SMU, and would think it would also bring the Dallas crowds to watch a kid like this.
Re: Marshall is on a roll.Whiteside is projected to be the #1 pick in the 2011 NBA draft
Re: Marshall is on a roll.
No wonder... I look forward to seeing him play next week.
Re: Marshall is on a roll.we can do ok if they have Whiteside go for 30 (see the UH guy last night). What makes me think our chances vs Marshall arent so great is the big fella. Papa vs. Carraker (sp?) was frustrating to watch..if the Marshall kid, at a few inches taller than the UTEP kid, has as much game as it sounds like, we'll have to get scoring from somewhere else.
Re: Marshall is on a roll. They say Whiteside is still growing...was 6'10" last summer when he showed up in Huntington. His grandfather was 7'3" and Whiteside might end up matching that height.
Re: Marshall is on a roll.Wilkerson sounds solid too. 6'8 240 Senior.
Re: Marshall is on a roll.Mylo and Mook have 10 hard fouls coming his way
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Re: Marshall is on a roll.PonyDoh, how did Big Shoe allow a future #1/lotto pick to wind up at Marshall of all places? Did Huggins not want him?
...and Mylo's capable of using all 5 in about three minutes...I hope he spreads 'em out
Re: Marshall is on a roll.
What's the link? I don't see him projected as #1 on nbadraft.net Last edited by mustangxc on Sun Feb 28, 2010 1:02 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Marshall is on a roll.
He is a lock for the lottery but I think few have him rated higher than Cousins and Wall at this point. Most of the projections I see have him falling between 5 and 10.
Re: Marshall is on a roll.He projected #1 in the '11 draft.
"smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Marshall is on a roll.
First, not everyone is bought and sold or leveraged. Second, he was damn good in high school, but not a sure fire 5 star kid or anything. Strong 4 star that's achieving in a 3 star plus league, not to mention size and upside. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. Re: Marshall is on a roll.CUSA has some talented big men this season.
Papa D gets to close out the reg season against Jordan & Whiteside. Should be fun to watch. "We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."
Re: Marshall is on a roll.Am I alone in my belief that Dia has no NBA potential? I am not trying to be critical, but he has never shown me the inside dominance that it takes to make it in the NBA.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Marshall is on a roll.If you define 'NBA potential' as actually playing a critical role in a team's success, I haven't seen NBA potential from an SMU player in my lifetime outside of 2 players, Gene Phillips and Ira Terrell.
