TWO-game suspension?

Did everyone see the sucker-punch Brittney Griner of Baylor threw in the game against Tech? (I know some don't like women's basketball, but it's been all over SportsCenter and the internet.)

Yeah, maybe there was something that prompted it, but she landed a serious shot, breaking the other player's nose... and gets TWO games?

Baylor's coach issued some statement after the game about how this is "a black eye" (no pun intended, presumably) for women's sports, for the school, yada yada, and won't be tolerated ... and then added a whopping one game on the mandatory one-game NCAA suspension that goes with a punch-inspired ejection.

Am I crazy to think that if this was a guy who tagged an opponent in the schnoz like that, he would have been suspended for far more than two games?

Griner should be out for the rest of the season, including the postseason, if you ask me.

given that she plays at Baylor, you'd think she'd be expelled

Any guy would certainly be suspended for the rest of the season. She will miss their last reguklar season game and first game of the Big 12 tourney, that's it. Serious double standard I think.

And I only saw the foul that prompted the hit, but it was just holding down in the post. Nothing dirty no cheap shot. I am thinking there MUST have been something else earlier in the game to provoke a response like that from the Baylor chic. Even still, complete sucker punch.

A total serious double standard..what about Blount at the University of Oregon last year against Boise State? It wasn't just two games and he is going through serious interagations at the NFL Combine about his 'character' issues because of that one punch.

Blount missed 8 games and there are a lot less football games than b-ball games in a season.

Blount missed close to 2/3rds of a season. Griner is missing less than 10% of her season.

A "time out" would have been sufficient.

Or at least like a girl who can really deliver a shot. Any shot that breaks a nose is a legit punch.

Elizabeth Lambert is the New Mexico soccer player who basically assaulted half the BYU team in last year's MWC tournament semifinals. She was suspended "indefinitely," and I haven't been able to find anything suggesting she has been reinstated. (If someone else has, please correct me.)
