Gilliam Named Conference USA Player Of The Week

DALLAS (SMU) - Brittany Gilliam was named Conference USA Player of the Week after leading the Mustangs to a 71-52 win against Tulsa on Senior Night in Moody Coliseum Wednesday. The award is her second of the season, and third of her career.
The senior guard from Tyler, Texas led all scorers with 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double this season. With a game-high eight assists, Gilliam was two away from a triple-double.
Gilliam scored eight of her 19 points during a 14-0 SMU run which gave the Mustangs a lead they didn't relinquish the rest of the game. She moved into sixth all-time at SMU with 1,437 career-points.
The win gave the Mustangs 20 wins in a season for the third consecutive year, and gave the senior class 82 wins, tying them with the 2000 senior class for most wins in a four-year span.
The Mustangs finished third in the C-USA standings, and will take on the winner of six-seed UAB and 11-seed Tulsa Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the first round of the 2010 GMC Sierra C-USA Championship in Tulsa, Okla.
