Orsini Hire Record GPA: 1.446

Here's all of the hires that Orsini has made, with my grades on them.

M Basketball - Matt Doherty - D-
Equestrian - Haley Schoolfield - no clue how we did before she got here but we're 3-5 this year...no grade
Football - June Jones - A+
M Soccer - Tim McClements - F
W Soccer - Brent Erwin - F
New Horses - admittedly controversial so though I don't like them...no grade

Applying the SMU GPA system (only link I could find is here: http://smu.edu/registrar/transfer/transferable_gpa.asp) to Orsini's hires along with hours for the more important hires being higher, this is what it would look like:

Doherty - 4 hours x .7 = 2.8
Jones - 4 hours x 4.0 = 16
M Soccer - 3 hours x 0 = 0
W Soccer - 2 hours x 0 = 0

Total Points: 18.8
Total Hours: 13

GPA: 1.446

I think SO gets a 'C' for JJ, because Dickerson hand delivered JJ

Maybe the second most stupid post in PF history, second only to MM1865 "I am going to get in Turners face on the 'vard...".

as great as winning that bowl game was, don't ya think A+ is overstating JJ a bit? He has to do as well or better this coming season to be A+ material. I would say A- so far because of BLM - went with the wrong qb who didn't have it and stayed with him too long.

With 25 years of losing, any hire that could get us to a bowl game is an A+ in my book...though Dickerson did hand-deliver JJ.

To "ontheedgeofmyseat" - but maybe not, too 8)

Was this the grading scale you learned at Webster?

To the point of June Jones being an A+ --- His oveall record at SMU is 8 wins, 16 losses.
That is a .333 winning percentage. Is that A+ ?
Yes, a dramatic turnaround in year 2 and a bowl victory but look at the entire body of work from a results standpoint. And, next season is not going to be easy by any stretch.

I never went to Webster...you have me confused with Mustangs35. Check the link in my post, that's the SMU grading scale.

A large part of Coaching is recruiting since its the most vital long term barometer of success in College sports-its universally admitted by all Head Coaches- and while SMU has made some strides in recruiting-there certainly is no way you can give him an A yet. He should be doing better in recruiting since we are admitting about 10 categories of marginal recruits who never used to have a chance for admission. To reach the level TCU has reached under Franchione and Patterson he's going to have to start recruiting like Franchione and Patterson and start getting multiple top non-BCS classes like Franchione and Patterson did. When he does that he gets an A+

I agree, if you look at all these hires as a whole, not very good at all.
Jones is an incomplete at the moment.

The only sport he hasn't screwed up are the ones that have had coaches for a while. Swim/Golf.

You all are forgetting something, football counts for ten times the number of hours of all of the rest of the sports combined.

New GPA: 3.77 Magna Cum Laude.

Mark. Stallion doesn't even give the June Jones hire an A yet.
