Folks That [deleted] About the Hot Dogs or Popcorn

at the Bball games as one of their "Top 3 Reasons for Nonrenewal", are simply looking for excuses to complain...let's get beyond that, can we? You live in Dallas, for crying out loud, stop somewhere on the way in, or on your way out to satisfy your belly...game time is for making some noise, cutting loose, seeing friends, supporting the kids / school / program...In the spirit of St. Pat...how 'bout a limmerick...I once went to an SMU basketball game....The Mustang Club spread was Hall of Fame...I jammed with the band and enthusiastically took a stand...but the support I saw was a crying shame...hey, I'm Scottish..GO MUSTANGS!!

I'm renewing, but there is still no excuse for Div III quality concessions. Does not reflect very good business sense.

and actually I think it's gone the other direction. Didnt they used to sell Papa John's pizza?

Attended a youth soccer game in Longview on Saturday. Concessions there > concessions @ Moody.

We obviously have much greater problems, but that doesn't diminish the fact that Moody concessions are horrible. Not only does the food suck, but the Houston game was a nightmare with only 2 stands open and lines clogging the narrow isles.

Just because we have to watch crap doesn't mean we should be eating crap!

Get a clue....Sometimes we all can't get to dinner before a week night game especially, and it would be nice to have options to eat something better than the BS that is there when we get to the games.
Its part of the total gameday experience and should be upgraded from what is really a grade school type menu.
Whoever is in charge of consessions for both venues at SMU has obviously taken the easy way out and has no imagination and NO food venue background.
If you go to other venues around the country the food service has all picked up a notch or two with choices for all the family and would imagine is another great profit making entity. The stadium for both Basketball and Football at Hawaii is a case in point as they had many options for higher end food and higher end drink for all, including some great adult beverages, which would be nice at SMU someday.

it would be pretty simple to increase revenue from concessions by diversifying. One of the biggest draws at the Roughrider games is their 'all you can eat' thing. Not saying Moody should do that, but then again it would be hard to do with popcorn, hotdogs and nachos. Seems to me if there were options, and you could pull off an all you can eat kind of thing, it would be more attractive to students. Anyone know a college student who wouldnt seek out copious amounts of food on the cheap?

If you cant market the basketball market the other stuff. It's not up to me, but if it was, I'd make use of some of those dormant concession stands and create different brands at each one, not unlike what they do at AAC. I'd also deep clean all of them, invest in some paint and different lighting and signage, so as to make it marketable. Then set some goals and go accomplish them.

Sometimes it's as though we make a conscious effort to make no effort.

What I don't understand is why they can't seem to open all of the concession stands. On nights where we actually draw a somewhat decent crowd, you can't get the crappy popcorn because the lines reach from the concession stands all the way into the lobby.

Mark Cuban repeatedly states that he's in the business of selling an experience, not just a basketball game. That's in addition to fielding a 50-win team every year.

SMU sells neither good basketball nor a memorable experience...

It would be nice if the few times potential new fans walked in the Moody doors, they would at least leave being pleased by their experience despite the outcome of the game.

you got it. Friend of mine works in the front office for the Stars. Can't control wins and losses, but you can control relationships. Manage those relationships by maximizing the in-arena experience and don't screw up at crucial customer contact points.

I agree.....bring back the burger dogs! (somewhat kidding)

I just sneak in my food....Rolly Polly, New York Sub.
Whats worse is that I can't bring in a beverage so my total
cost of the meal doubles when I buy that ridiculous 5 dollar drink.

I hate everyone.

I can't wait for football season.

I agree with all point made here, but it does no good to [deleted] about it to the peanut gallery.

Call or email Orsini. I do when I get home from another retched experience at Moody or Ford.

You need to go to the vending machines in the northeast corner. Sometimes they are turned off, but when they are on you can get your drink for $1.25 and keep that meal within your budget.

I am on the fence on this one, sure more concessions open, better food, more diversity, would be nice. but most games, one concession on each side works fine, there is simply not enough crowd. Also, I doubt any outside vendors would be interested in coming in there with the crowds we get.

Get more people in Moody with a better team on the floor and the concessions will upgrade. Right now, warming up a few hotdogs and making a little popcorn is the only thing that makes sense financially.

There were several games where it was two concessions on one side, and none on the other side. Tell me how that makes sense.
