Houston gets MD (13)
UTEP gets Bulter (12)

Ouch, one and done for both most likely.

Better than I thought. I figured we were a one bid conference.

I am picking UTEP over Butler in my bracket. Think they have a chance.

As I said before the champ game, if UTEP lost we'd be a two-bid conference at the least.

evidently UTEP was one of the last two at-large teams in. But I do think they have a shot v Butler

I think CUSA got totally dissed!!! How in the world is UTEP a 12 seed??? They deserve to be a 7 seed and at worst an 8 seed. They were ranked in the top 25 and made it to their conference championship game!!!! UAB should have been chosen as well!!! MWC gets way to much credit while CUSA is totally ignored!! Here's hoping the Miners can continue the 12 seed magic and that the cougars can somehow add to their final four banners!!! I can just as easily see the Cougars beating Kansas as losing to the worst team in the country. They are that talented and that undisciplined all in one. Make no mistake, their CUSA tourney run did not come out of nowhere. Advancing in the tourney just depends on their ability to knock down the 3.

actually, the 12 seed is where you want to be to make a run at the sweet 16 because the 5 seeds are generally beatable and then you get the 4 seed. I think the teams that get those 8/9 games are really shafted as they win one only to face the #1 seed in their 2nd round. Even the 7/10 seeds and 6/11 seeds face a much tougher path to the round of 16. If our conference champion is any good, they are positioned to be a sweet 16 team. We need to expect more than 1st round wins.

Didn't research this too closely, but while watching the Automatic Bids on the bottom line, I believe Ark-Pine Bluff is the only other conference champ with less than 20 wins, so that's another feather in C-USA's cap.

Tulane wins CUSA and gets a 12 seed. I know I am throwing women's basketball into this and have no clue why I am watching the women's selection special

Several national analysts seem to feel the same way.

UTEP plays w/no discipline, Butler is all discipline. I'd imagine that Butler will control the clock, limit shots, play efficient and put themselves in a position to win. Interesting to see if Barbee heads to Depaul.

I don't know what to do here. The "Bracketologist" seems to think that UTEP will win against Butler and Vanderbilt.

They haven't played very many good teams this year. This is a tough part of the bracket for me.

That's funny as there must not have been anything else on. :-)

CUSA does get the shaft here ( on Mens and Womens SMUPony 94!) but when they get in they have to make some noise as Memphis has been the only CUSA representative school for years. Now is the time to jump up with two CUSA teams that haven't been to the dance in a while. Really who outside of our conference has heard of UTEP or Houston as Basketball powers lately?
Chareleston Pony is right on, as the 12 seed does have a better run at the Sweet 16 as they don't face the higher seeds right away.
UTEP should have a good chance against Butler as Butler has difficulty with 'athletic' teams and ii Character is on, they will have a tough time containing this big guy inside. If they focus on him with double teams, then Culpepper has to rise up and seize the opportunity. It's a good chance to get noticed on a National stage and should be a good game.
