According to "twitter" dan.

Personally think it is a good idea, help build rivalries and control costs. Just a rumor, but on the memphis paper blog, so probably pretty much a sure thing:

not sure what this amounts to. So, we get a homegame against Tulane next year that we didn't have this year? We'll lose at least one game vs. Memphis I assume so the SOS goes down even further.

I actually like this idea from the standpoint of building relationships/rivalries but SMU really needs to step it up and join UTEP, Houston & Tulsa as competitive programs in the west and we all need to keep pace with the east. I do believe the academics in the western privates makes it more difficult to compete in hoops.

This is definitely a good decision. If there is any concern with our strength of schedule then we can always schedule Dayton, Gonzaga, Butler, Creighton, etc in non-conference games. If we need a stronger late season schedule we can schedule a couple of these games later in the season, much like Duke vs Tulsa.

There was talk about our stepping up for two games with Memphis not being the best decision.

This would be a face saving way out of that situation.

For us, that is basically it, we substitute home and home with Memphis for home and home with Tulane. Not as big a deal for us, but it helps most of the other C-USA schools out. It is a shame to lose two games with memphis every year, but we still will play them once. Having basketball divisions just like football makes sense all the way around.

Well hopefully this is a little more incentive for administration to force a tougher non-conference schedule. Losing one of the Memphis games is especially a killer when we only face them on the road. There goes one of the few decent crowds we get a Moody...

We would only lose the Memphis home game every other year, I am sure it would rotate each year. Perfectly balanced schedule, play everyone in your division twice, and every team in the other division once.
