FYI, not at the Duke game yesterday.
The "for no apparent reason" part of the comment is telling. Other team on offense = apparent reason for noise. Other team shooting free throws = apparent reason for noise. Just because reasons are not "apparent" to anyone around here (including, unfortunately, the Mustang Band these days) doesn't mean that noise is not appropriate.

From the description it might have been Lady Gaga.

The ding dong I am referencing does NOT say / cheer "Come on Ponies!! Play some D!!".."That a way Mustangs (with maybe a whistling noise or clapping).."..."Let's go Mustangs...clap clap clap" type stuff....this person simply moans / grunts "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagghhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" takes a breath "ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"..I have been to a ton of games in my life, pro and college, nationwide, I have NEVER seen anything like this and hope I never will....I was home in St. Louis with my folks watching the Duke game and my dad noticed it, one of my girls said she heard it as well...we ALL laughed remembering our "experience" at the SMU games..thought she was there, near the mic...

I can't quite tell if you're referencing me or not since I do lots of different types of cheers at games (few of which anyone bothers to join in, save my husband and the two kids in the student section that actually appear to know their basketball cheering stuff, but that's not my fault), and I did not notice anything unusual during any of the Duke games thus far in the tourney so I'm not exactly sure what you're referencing.
But I assure you that shouting "aaaaaaaaahhhhhh" loudly and for a long time is completely normal in venues like Cameron (been there at least 50-60 times), Allen Field House (been there multiple times), ACC tourney (been there 3 times while in law school), etc. when the other team has the ball on offense. I guarantee you that the entirety of Duke fans/band at the games this weekend were shouting "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh" multiple times during the game. There are basically 4 unison, repeated cheers inside Cameron: (1) "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhh" and (2) "Boink boink, aaaaawwwww, pass (or shot or turnover or whatever the opponent does)" while team is on D, with the former being more frequent than the latter, and (3) "Let's go Duke" and "Let's go Devils" while on offense. There are variations, and creative ones thrown in situationally, but those are the basics. Nothing fancy. It's more effective when other people join in like they do in those and many other places, but the fact that no one in Moody knows that they're supposed to join in isn't my problem.

Whach you talkin about Willis?
I don't post here much as not much is going on, but the #1 Poster on Pony Fans let me know there was a Duke conversation going on. Apparently not.
Diamond M - If you have been to Cameron 50 or 60 times, you are one dedicated fan. Good on ya!
Will be in Houston this weekend. Not sure if I will be yelling "AHHHHHHHHHH" or not as I think Reliant will absorb all sound. "Lets Go Duke" will be heard many times.
