Chicago point guard Fabyon Harris was expected to sign his national letter-of-intent Wednesday with SMU.

Harris didn't sign, because his 19-year-old brother was fatally shot Monday evening, according to a source. Harris is still planning to sign with the Ponies.

At this point I don't care if he comes to SMU, I would just like to see him get out of that situation!

This is his escape from that life. Hopefully, he'll use it wisely and get a great education and be the kind of success in life that will make his parents proud.

gotta pull for this kid to get in and make something of himself with the help of SMU. Coming from inner city Chicago, he will have to overcome the culture shock of living in Camelot

As a Chicagoan, I am thrilled to see him heading to the Hilltop. Life is hard in the Hood, but please welcome him.

Don't know, but that was "updated" 4/1, so before his brother passed.

Still waiting on his test scores, but if not at SMU next season, he'll be playing at Howard JC in Big Spring, TX. Regardless, this is a great opportunity for the SMU community to help turn this kid's life around. And a lot like the Blindside, he'll probably positively affect a lot of lives down here at the same time.
