He's just messing around in the vids, but he's damn promising

he's bad [deleted]...need to see him catch and shoot with a quick release from the ready position and lets see him move to the left as well and especially from the left side of the floor off both pivot feet. They will push the boy left.....good hops and looks strong though. Will he still kick yo [deleted] Doh?....

Thanks for the new clip of Vilde. I hope the kid does great & I wish him all the best. But that video is not impressive @ all .There's nothing on that video that stands out to me. He's 6'9" & can dunk. Big deal. He can shoot uncontested jumpers. Ok. Looks rigid to me. He's obviously just goofing around so you can't really make much of it IMO. The one thing I hope he brings to the table is an inside toughness. That's what's missing from the video imo & what this team needs the most from him. We got our 6'9 j shooter in RN. Look forward to watching him play next season. BTW, does anyone know what he averaged his Sr. year? Stats on Lee Academy were very hard to come by. All I could find is below.

Yeah, not a great video if you're projecting his skills to a game scenario. Looks fluid for a white guy, so that's promising. Don't like the way he was shooting, doesn't square up and kind of has a slight fade to his right towards the end of the video. Hopefully that was an aberration to look cool for the ladies on youtube.

Not sure this vid was designed to be evaluated, just a youtube goof. That said, he shows quite a bit of athleticism for a 6'9 235ish kid. We haven't had too many bigs in recent years w/that combo of size, bounce & power, especially someone who looks to project as a face-up 4. He doesn't look rigid to me, when you consider the position he's being brought in to play. If anyone is swinging to the 3, it's Smith, not Vilde. Also, has enough range and form, to know he can shoot it some, which could help in pick n pop, or roll situations.

I don't think he looks rigid at all. I think he actually looks pretty fluid and I would be interested to see more video on how good his footwork is in the post. With his ability to move his feet, he could be coached up in this area.

The dunks aren't anything impressive from a jumping standpoint- just proves he isn't the sterotypical grounded, stiff white guy big. He dunks with the relative ease that I expect from that size. I am more impressed by the coordination he shows on the dunks, making me think again that he isn't a bumbling stiff that has terrible hands, poor footwork etc.

Its a video of him just goofing off and we shouldn't try to read much into it, but we can at least tell the guy isn't a klutz.

I haven't seen enough to come close to thinking he is all that. Just appears to me he isn't going to be a stiff. Don't see how this video could cause someone to be identified as a project though.

Staff certainly hasn't given us any reason to think their evaluations are 100% dead on. However, I bet if I said his name Richie Vic and was from Duncanville rather than Richmond Vilde from Lee Academy you'd be telling us the guy is the next Chris Bosh and SMU totally missed on this guy even though his only offers were Utah State and Arkansas Little Rock.

contrast this video with the one we saw on the big kid from Oklahoma (Hoge?)- now that dude was stiff

My comments are based on the collection of videos I've seen of Vilde. You should remember my initial comments the first time we discussed him. I'm more impressed with him now than I originally was. I think its going to take longer for him to fit in than you think. In my eyes, he's not anywhere
near a 4 star. Maybe a 2. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I hope I'm wrong & he walks in the door & contributes day 1. Now Smith, that's a different story. Thumbs up !!

Eh, he's just messin' around in the video. Can't tell too much from it other than he can mess around pretty well.

Yea, the first video was sorta rough, mostly cause he was playing half-ass pickup w/girls...lol. 2nd video was total domination of St Thomas More which had kids like Will Barton on it(Top 20 national kid, and Memphis' best recruit IMO). This past vid is just for fun.

Nobody who saw him play in the NE Prep league thought 2 star type. He's a high 3 star, which played out in all the national tourneys and their reviews. My DC Assault buddy, who also had a few kids at Lee, most notably Maxie Esho & Darryl Traynham, said 4 star. Lee staff will tell you he'd have gone to a Big East school, in all liklihood, had he not been stashed by SMU. To put it bluntly, much like Pats, had these kids been on the open market, they'd have had FAR BETTER offers then SMU.

FWIW, working on some Leslee Smith video right now. Have to be encouraged by that kid, especially now that he's damn close to being cleared.

I'd love to see some Smith video. I haven't seen any yet.
