Look for a really easy schedule next year:

"C-USA also will pay schools a share of basketball postseason revenue based on each nonconference win, giving members more incentive to follow the scheduling guidelines."

Conference USA men's basketball teams will begin following the same division system in college football. Previously, the teams perceived to be among the strongest played each other twice a year.

Hilarious, so assuming that Memphis was perceived to be among the strongest, I guess that means they perceived SMU to be among the strongest as well since they played each other twice a year lately...

I remember him saying that, but it certainly is not consistent with the quote above about them scheduling the best teams against each other.

CUSA has always paid teams based on their OOC record. Doherty stated this on his radio show at TEN Sports Grill a couple seasons ago as a reason for scheduling softer OOC- $$$.

If I remember right Calipari was complaining because UTEP didn't want to play Memphis twice and he said that "no one will play the Tigers twice by choice" and Doherty stood up and said "We will!"

Here's the Memphis paper's take on the same story. They refer to it as "fine tuning" the schedule.
