I was thinking you guys could show some common sense, and realize recruits read this board. I'm not sure who is worse, Doh or our fans that consistently prove they don't get how all this works. I'm beginning to think we deserve to lose.

You said on another board that PonyFans isn't very active, so that must mean the recruits probably don't know it exists.

No, I said ponyfans is the most actively viewed board, but yet it's message boards are surprisingly dead on all it's forums. I was at UA "Best of the Best' last weekend, saw a few SMU prospects play, one of which commented about our fans being overly negative based on his viewings of this particular board. I encourage all of you to think before you post. This kid thinks highly of the school, coaches, even program, his only negative was what he views here

I would hope that particular recruit, and all recruits, would see our negativity as not settling for mediocrity. We want to be winners and want players and coaches who want to win as well and are able to get us to where we should be.

It would be a little weird, given our recent performance, if every fan on here was rah rahing it up.

I just wish we had more fans...that would help the coaches recruit

or maybe they just view it for what it is, a small hating fan base that bashes just to bash. Just check out the title of this thread. It's June and recruiting is in full swing, whether its the open evaluation period or not. Nobody talking recruiting, AAU tourneys, the local GASOs, elite camps, skill camps etc. Instead we get the parody 'Doh to Mich St' threads, while all the aforementioned tourneys are happening.

Let's be real here. Jonathan Holmes is an incredibly strong SMU lean, despite having two Big 12 offers, that could be Pac 10 in no time. He's from an SMU background, and is a fit for the general student body & academics, not just the hoops team. His people love Reggie Brown and this staff, which is returning next year for sure, and can win enough to return into the future. What do you think his people think when they read these boards? Do they see a fan base that wants their kid, or fan base that is more consumed w/hating on the coach they really like? All Doh criticism is merited, nobody is saying to love the results. I'm just saying that needless, pointless venom, that has no chance of enacting change, during critical recruiting periods, just hurts the program. Kids & families read these boards.

I have to agree with Doh here......we all know the problems but it will do no good at this time and especially on a free forum like Ponyfans.com which is read by many potential recruits. Leave it alone until the season starts and if warranted then.......we can rant. But damn there must ne better things to post during the off season, which just happens to be important timing for SMU recruit decisions.
