We open at your place with a return game next year in Little Rock. In another thread I saw some complaining about scheduling. UALR only schedules home and homes or better. The schedules over the last 4 or 5 years have looked like this year’s schedule:

Fri, Nov 12 SMU at Dallas, Texas

Sun, Nov 14 St. Bonaventure at St. Bonaventure, N.Y.

Wed, Nov 17 St. Gregory's Jack Stephens Center

Sun, Nov 21 Illinois State Jack Stephens Center

Wed, Nov 24 Oral Roberts at Tulsa, Okla.

Fri, Nov 26 Louisiana Tech Jack Stephens Center

Wed, Dec 01 Missouri State at Springfield, Mo.

Sun, Dec 05 Tulsa Jack Stephens Center

Tue, Dec 07 Philander Smith Jack Stephens Center

Sat, Dec 11 Ole Miss Jack Stephens Center

Thu, Dec 16 Rice at Houston, Texas

Tue, Dec 21 Akron at Las Vegas, Nev.

Wed, Dec 22 Oral Roberts at Las Vegas, Nev.

Thu, Dec 23 Stetson at Las Vegas, Nev.

We are proud to finally sign a 2 year deal with SMU. SMU has agreed to a home and home for the last 3 or 4 years only to back out at the last minute. Playing a second game in the Dallas area is important to UALR’s program due to recruiting, so we try to schedule SMU, UTA, TCU, etc… every year. Sonnier, Daylon, and Leeper are local to the Dallas area but we always have several Texas players on the roster.
Last year was a truly down year after winning 43 games total the 2 seasons before, so don’t count us as a win. Lack of inside play killed UALR last year but we have more depth there this year. Steve Shield’s system requires a good pf and we lacked that last year. This year the high low combination at the 4 and 5 is back plus better pg play. We will be much better than the 9 win team from last year that lost 9 seven point or less games.

Offensive Style
We play a big 10 style of offense that pounds the ball inside

Defensive Style
Straight-up man to man

It would be nice if one of the posters here would drop by and give us a look at SMU. Also, many of us plan to drive out to Dallas to watch the game, a list of good eats and must see stuff on/around the campus would be nice.

There's a better than even chance that a number of folks on our board are actually counting UALR as a loss...or at a minimum will be pleasantly surprised if SMU pulls off a close game. Welcome to the board and don't take everything we say at face value. Most of us are smart [deleted], and cynicism is our forte.

Welcome to the board.

My guess is that very few of us are counting UALR as a win on the schedule. I know I'm not. Losses to Texas State, Pine Bluff, and South Carolina-Upstate have rendered no game an automatic win.

I like your non-conference schedule. One question: Who is Philander Smith?

I am one that thinks UALR wins. Do not want them to but I think they do.

Depends on who is eligible for SMU, I guess. I don't have any game marked down as a sure win, but I'm betting the staff scheduled it b/c they thought it was. We'll find out soon enough.

Little Rock located NAIA school. Probably about 5 miles from UALR.

I am not counting SMU as a win either after last year. Looking forward to playing. We have a core group that will travel to close games like this one and tulsa, oru, mo.st., ole miss, la tech, centenary, and memphis, which have all signed home and homes with us in the last 3 or 4 years.

SMU hoops doesn't take anyone for granted; we've shown in recent years that we can lose to anyone on our schedule.

The confidence in our team is underwhelming. We will win by 30.
