UALR vs SMU

Less than a week before the season starts for both teams. Several of the fans from our board are planning on making the trip out on Friday and travel home on Saturday. Any most see stuff around the campus/area? Most eat at places?

We will have had a couple of closed scrimmages, so I can’t tell you anything about what to expect from out of team but I will try.

UALR will start
PG D'Andre Williams
5-10 160 JR Amarillo, TX
SG Solomon Bozeman
6-0 188 SR Magnolia, AR

SF Alex Garcia-Mendoza
G 6-3 205 SR
PF Marlon Louzeiro
F 6-7 262 JR
C Derrick Bails
F 6-9 267 SR Ripley, MS

We run a Big10 style offense that pounds the ball inside with a PF that can hit the mid range jumper and a center that can score and hit free throws on the inside. Out SG is a Big East transfer that has a good first step.

Defense is just plan man to man.

We are coming off of a pretty bad year with only 6 D1 wins. The two years before that we won 43 games which included beating Creighton and almost knocking off Memphis at Memphis (59 -51). Last year’s issues came from not being able to close out defensive trips with a rebound. We had really bad bigs last year and lost our best big for the year in the 1st few games (Ole Miss transfer). This year we have plenty of depth at the 4 and 5.

We recruit Texas hard, so there are several kids from Texas on our team: Gus Leeper, Daylon Guy, Courtney Jackson, D’Andre Williams, and Reggie Sonnier. There should be plenty of family members in the stands.
Hope to see plenty of you guys in Little Rock next year for the return game.
Any webcast for the game????

I will let the Dallas experts give you the local scoop. I just ask that you be gentle with us. I will be at the return game next year.

I do not think I want to sit with used Trojans. :D

I will be in touch. There are quite of few SMUers living in the area.

We really need to respond to this UALR fan with some Dallas hospitality. Someone with good local knowledge let them know the best eateries (1st and ten), etc. I always appreciate when others school's fans do this for us. Thanks.

I would go to HP Village (Highland Park) which is just down the road from SMU, is historic, has great shopping, and some excellent restaurants.

One of my favorite restaurants which happens to be in the Village is MiCocinas (my kitchen) which has excellent TexMex - if you consume alcohol, make sure you get a Mombo Taxi (their margarita).

If you don't like Mexican food, patrizios has good Italian.
