Weirdly encouraged

I hate losing, and I definitely am not a "moral victories" guy.

But the women's team played horribly and still came within a point of a good Utah team, a team that not only has talent but also a lot of size, which is an attribute that has given us trouble at times in the past. Utah seemed to roll in a lot of players who were well over 6 feet, but Christine Elliott and Delisha Wills were effective (how Wills does it is beyond me — she's substantially shorter than everyone who guards her).

Wills was very encouraging. She looked a lot better getting up and down the floor for someone coming off knee surgery who hadn't played a game in 19 months. She'll get better as she gets into game shape and her endurance returns.

When we get some outside shots to fall, we're going to beat some decent teams.

Utah and SMU both actually played exceptional defense.
But you're right — the shooting definitely can improve.

They wore us out down low. They must have had 5 different post players rotating in and out and they were still fresh at the end, which allowed them to grab pretty much every rebound in the last 2 minutes. That decided the game.
