Way to go JFrog

Through the first 5 games of the season, he has played pretty damn well for a Freshman starting at PG. 9 ppg, 44% fg, 4apg with a 1.75 assist to turnover ratio. If you were to throw out his first college game ever, he all the sudden has a 2.6 A to TO ratio.

This kid has been under the PonyFans microscope ever since he signed with SMU. I know we haven't played the greatest competition ever but let's give JFrog his due. I'd say a lot of us should be eating our words right now. Anyone still upset we brought him in rather than Faybon?

Doh said he thought this kid would become a fan favorite; looks like he's getting more comfortable...at least against this level of competition. Good job, J Frog

There were others we could have had, other than Fabyon, but yes, J is certainly playing well beyond what any of us would have expected - even out of the others.

Can we change his nickname to JPony, though? Don't want to salute TCU every time we talk about him

Frog has been a very nice surprise. He's a savvy lil kid that gets it on the floor. At worst, he's proving that he has a place on this team moving forward. At best, he's going to earn minutes from more sought after kids.

More than all of that, Frog works really hard, wants to win, and is appreciative of the opportunity he's been given. Good to see things work out for the kid.

Calallen is right, though. The miss wasn't Fabyon as much as Doh passing on Keith Shamburger, who he scouted endlessly, and then passed on. After that, Doh found the Frog. Meanwhile, Shamburger is almost averaging 20 per for San Jose St, just put up 19 in a win over Jon Loyd and Oregon. Has a few 30 pt games etc. So far, huge miss. Not sure he would have come after the Geary dismissal anyway

Way to go CalallenStang!!! Are you now on board with 'JPony'?..... I agree also, get rid of the frog monicker.
For a true frosh, those are respectable numbers for his first few games of his college life, no matter who you play beacuse its a whole different game. To be mentioned as a potential Mr Florida Basketball, he must have had some pretty good HS talent to be a finalist.

He keeps playing like this, he'll make us all forget the other options we had. I'm now less inclined to say Doh made a mistake in recruiting him 8)

Last two games he had 7 assists in each. We haven't had too many PGs around here recently putting up those type of assist numbers. To his credit, he seems like the type of kid that could do a great job hosting recruits etc. He's unorthodox, undersized, and a host of other things, but he's pretty effective.

Saw where Evan Roquemore has had some good games for Santa Clara. 14 & 13 pts in a couple of games so far.

I liked Roque quite a bit, but I think he would have gone to Santa Clara over SMU anyway. He actually had a Cincy offer he turned down for Santa Clara too. Still, good player.

It's funny that the only kid not to do well that we were after is Fabyon.
