Dia Earned MVP Honors As The Mustangs Won The SMU Invitational

IRVING, Texas (SMU/C-USA) --- SMU senior forward Papa Dia was named the C-USA Player of the Week. Dia averaged 18.3 points and 7.5 rebounds in four games this week, along with earning MVP honors at the SMU Invitational. This is his first career Player of the Week honor.

Dia averaged 18.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, 1.3 assists and a steal while shooting 71.8 percent (28-39) from the field in four games. He was named MVP of the SMU Invitational as he helped the Mustangs win the event. For the tournament, he averaged 20.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, 1.3 assists and a steal in the event. He finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds in a 102-70 win against Lamar. He also had 20 points and nine rebounds in a 69-53 victory over Portland State. This is his first career Player of the Week honor.
