McMurry’s ability to do just that left an impression on SMU coach Matt Doherty, who said after the game that McMurry is better than some of the Division I teams the Mustangs have played.

Despite the gap in classification, McMurry played toe-to-toe with their Division I counterparts for most of the game. The Nation outrebounded SMU 39-31, had just as many points in the paint (28), had one fewer turnover (17) and had seven more second-chance points (17).

Doherty said McMurry certainly made his trip to Abilene a little more stressful than he had hoped it would be.

No wonder we had a difficult time winning...we were playing against an entire nation!

What do you suppose the difference in budget is between the SMU and McMurray BB programs? Any chance that Garnett would come to SMU and coach? Or maybe assistant Kemp?

well if you factor in scholarship $, it's an amazing difference. D3=no scholarships.
