David Allen scored 53 points in the Scots' triple-OT victory over McKinney last Friday, beating the previously known record of 44 points held by Billy Allen in 1978, according to Head Basketball Coach David Piehler. David scored 20 points from the free-throw line, and the rest of the points were spread out throughout the game.

"He's a great player and a great leader on our team," Piehler said. "It was probably the best individual performance I've ever witnessed in high school basketball. It was his night."

Just to show you what a small world it is, Piehler played with Billy Allen -- no relation to David -- at SMU when Billy's dad, Sonny Allen, was the head basketball coach.

Billy lives in Plano and makes SMU and HP games pretty often.
