UTEP received 8 votes in the Coaches Poll today. This looks great for C-USA, but it really ticks me off because we had them beat. My question is: How good is this UTEP team? Is this a team who can get a 12 or 13 seed in the NCAA and win a game or two? Also, Lunardi has Memphis in the tournament as of today as a #12 seed playing #5 Kentucky (what a match-up). I also spoke with Mr. Orsini who is on the NCAA selection committee and says that C-USA will get two teams into the NCAA. Thoughts?

Memphis is in. If someone besides Memphis wins the CUSA Tournament we will have two conference representatives in the dance.

I do not think UTEP is that great of a team and I think we will beat them at home. Memphis playing Kentucky in round 1 would be awesome. It would be great if they knocked off Calipari in the first round. The only way I see two teams from the CUSA going is if Memphis does not win the CUSA but gets a bid.

I agree. If Memphis wins the tourney, we will only get one team to the Dance. However, we (C-USA) should be well represented in the NIT and CBI and could have several teams make nice runs (for those who care to watch second-tier tournaments). Nothing would make me happier to see Calipari's face as he shakes Pastner's hand after a defeat by Memphis in the first round!

Calipari might have a heart attack. I grew up watching Memphis ball and nothing would make a lot of happier than seeing him defeated by the team he screwed over. It would be tough but Memphis could beat Kentucky.

If you look closely, Lunardi has UTEP as a 13 seed and Memphis as a 12 seed.

Here is another projection with a better track record than Lunardi. They have only UTEP in at this point with Memphis just missing. Site is www.bracketography.com. Ponies not on the list...yet

It is humorous to see Cinci as a 9 seed. At the rate they are dropping they probably won't make it to the tourney and the coach will be out.

A lot of changes still to come. Kansas will move to a one seed when Texas loses to Baylor at home.

We did? Somebody should have told UTEP not to outscore us.

In my opinion, they are two of the top 4 teams in the nation, and will be rewarded by both being no. 1 seeds. (UT, KU, pitt, and duke)-maybe ND if they run the table and win the BE.

I would imagine we will start showing up on most "bubble team" lists in the next couple of weeks if we take care of business.

I don't think we will unfortunately. At best we go 21-9 with no real signature wins (outside of Memphis/USM/UTEP?) I donna.
