It is high time Orsini review the basketball program and make a change. Give us a chance with a proven winner. Matt is a good guy but a winner on the basketball court as a coach, he is not. We lived by the three and those who live by the three also died by the three. We were short on players but that is the coaches fault...continual recruiting is a must. We are just dying to see a winner. We will not have better attendance until we get a winner on the court. A review is in order and usually is done following each season...Go Mustangs!

Not gonna happen, too many of the people that matter in those decisions like Matt and the progress we made this year...that along with his recruiting class.

Doherty is here to stay, and we just need to hope that he can build on this season.

these drive bys at the end of the year are so funny. Typically none of these folks ever step foot in Moody all year. I guess no Doherty on KAAM??

what a bad year for a drive-by. Horrible horrible game tonight, but these kids played hard all year, undermanned. If either Smith or Vilde were cleared, and Losh had a full season, this team wins 20 games going away. We were also very well coached until tonight

Cept for Doh's brain fart 4 man substitution, I thought he coached well. Having said that though, he cannot get a free pass on that boneheaded move that put us down so far.

Three things like I said before, in order of importance:

Offensive rebounding....Rice shot horrid, but got a ton more shots than us because we couldn't grab the boards.

Doh's firedrill Substition...Gave Rice an 11 point lead in a blink of an eye.

Papa Dia's "off night"....Looking at the stats without seeing the game, this would be a headscratcher, but he missed 6 FTs and several other shots he usually makes, also had way too many tunovers.

On the plus side, after the starters came back in for the second half, after the substitution fiasco...SMU stopped turning it over...was pretty clean the rest of the way...we just couldn't grab those boards.

If you are going to switch every time in man D, that's asking to be exploited. We gave Kazemi a ton of easy looks by having Frog or Harp fronting him on the switch. To me, when that becomes the norm, you gotta fight through or extend the zone. You can't give them lay-ups, by lobbing over the top, more than a few times. Learn and adjust

The 4 man substitution to stop a run, when you're inserting no offense or size on the court, is a no no, as you said. You can't stop the bleeding and chip back w/o being able to score a bucket. We have no depth, and don't have that luxury. Dance w/who brought ya.

Clink was productive, then he got caught in the 4 man sub debacle, and disappeared. He was far less timid than Losh or even Walker. Why do we tend to forget about the kid on the bench who likes to shoot and will take shots.

Lots of man tonight, which I thought was questionable.

Obviously, we were awful on the glass. Strangely, I sorta expected the whole year to be like that on the glass. Rob had a very good year, but he's a liability on the glass as your starting 4

Why man Defense? You play rice well for two games and them you decide to switch and go Man? No double teams on Kazemi- too much space, no blockouts. We contained him both games but played him differently tonight - makes no sense at all!

Watch it — it's awfully hard to announce that the sky is falling when you point out things like good coaching or the fact that this team has 17 wins with inadequate talent.

Tonight sucked. Hope we get into one of the tournaments. If it's within driving range, I'll go.

I wonder who made the call to switch D...who was it we played early this year when Mangino called for a switch to the box and 1? I wonder if the staff was pushing to go back to zone and they were overridden?

What I really hope was not the case is that Doh was hoping to allow his defensive POY to shine vs Kazemi, and had it blow up in his face.

Why the man defense with tired guys? Zone is less tiring. On rebounds, coach has all to move to set up on defense...I understand that to a point but three could retreat and have two rebound...we were almost aways outrebounded because of this. Our guys were playing on tired legs but that is because of not recruiting quality students to be able to play. Don't know what Matt's record is for the few years he has been here but it couldn't be 50%. When do you say enough is enough? Sure we will have more players next year but how many will stay and will Matt get more from what he has gotten from other talented players he has had. The level of competition is far lower than most CUSA teams. I have attended all games except during the snow etc. and will continue but want to see more. Go Mustangs!

Zone is not less tiring. Man to man is easier to rebound than zone.

the only thing I can come up with-well, other than the other stuff that popped into my head that's posted elsewhere-is maybe Doh was spooked by the way the last game vs Rice ended and he was concerned Rice would be launching and nailing threes over our zone

Bad coaching no matter how you paint it. Calling a 3 point shot to win in the last game when you are only down by 1 point???? Time to cut the losses and bring in a competent coach.

I don't think the called play was a 3. I just don't think the inside options developed, forcing the outside shot.

Five years, Doherty's overall winning percentage is at 42%, conference winning percentage is at 31%, and his teams have never won a conference tournament game. I think SMU deserves better!
